You'd probably have to look at it and/or hear it, but I'll try and describe the symptoms here.

When I turn either left or right with the tires turned 1/2 way or more in either direction, there is sort of a dull whirring grinding noise. If I turn the tires less than 1/2 way, I don't hear it. The noise doesn't increase with speed that I can tell, only seems to get a bit louder. It's not the tires since they were recently changed out. Brakes seem to be in good working order, last time I checked. Is it a hub bearing or something? axle? cv joints? I haven't gotten under the car yet to look at the cv boots but I can't see any reason why they would be messed up.

Another note is maybe something just needs some grease? I'm hoping you can do a 60K tuneup for me sometime next year and cover all the honda factory tuneup requirements. I think I'm at 54K right now, but haven't been in for a tuneup since 35K.

My GSR and my Civic do that when I have my snow tires on. The snow tires rubbed the inner fender liner a little during turns. Hopefully, yours is something minor like mine.

Axles dont make that noise. It is probably a clearance issue with the new tires. Look around and if you dont find the problem Id be happy to take a listen for you.

well the thing is that the tires are the same size as the snow tires I had on. The snow tires were getting bare and were making the noise only towards the latter part of their short 3 year life (like the last 3 months or so) The new tires are taller in that they have more tread on them. I'll take a look but it doesn't sound like a clearance issue.

Just a wild ass guess, but power steering pump could make that noise with the described symptoms.

Talus may have a valid point. I checked the power steering fluid in the resevoir and it was lower than the lower level line. Shouldn't it be at the upper level line or somewhere inbetween the lower and upper level line? What type of power steering fluid should I use?

another unrelated question: I wanted to pull off the vtec solenoid and clean the screen out, but was wondering if it's the three bolts on the top surrounding the brass cylinder, or the three bolts on the side of the head?

the ps level should be between the lines when the car is running and the ps fluid is warmed up. If you need to fill it use only Honda OEm fluid. Your pump is a vane type that can be easily damaged by incorrect fluids. You shouldnt ever have to clean the VTEC screen. If it has stuff in it its because the filer has failed or the entire oiling system is contaminated.
