I'm trying to find a good remote wire that I can use for my DVD player. I was trying to use the one off the deck but that requires the deck to be on all the time and also it seems as if the deck is taking all the power. The DVD player and screen will come on but for only 2 seconds then shut off again. So...I was just wondering what other wire I could use?

run a wire from the battery directly for it and use a relay with the remote wier from the head unit to turn it on? there's lots of ways you could do it though

So are you trying to run something that is ignition controled? Or are you trying to run something "hot" that is always on and will need a switch to turn the power source on and off...?
You shouldn't need a relay. The only time you need a relay is if you are running multiple units.
If you want to run it ignition controlled there are places in your fuse box that are ignition controlled. All you need is a spade/push on that plugs into the fuse box. Where are you located? I can help you if need be....Let me know.
The remote turnon lead is not intended to power another device - it simply provides current to energize a relay (I believe).
If you are looking to power an add'l piece of equipment, use either an emtpy fuse slot in the fuesblock, or run a (fused) wire from the batterh.

Not normally a relay with most car audio..but I've seen that sometimes. Mostly its just fed into a transistor that turns its buddys on once it gets a positive voltage.

Yeah I was going for the ignition controlled because even though the DVD player needs to be turned on before it works, the player still draws power so I don't want to kill my battery. I did find a place though, my cigarette lighter, I lost the lighter anyway and I don't charge my phone in my car. I'm cutting that and running it to see how well it does.
I live in the Springs btw, so I doubt anybody would want to drive down to help me lol.

Does the DVD player have two power uplinks? One for switched power and one for constant? If the deck power is giving problems run two lines to the fuse block and use two of the empty slots like John said. If you need help call me. I installed one not too long ago in my friends car.
