Do you have a harness jumper? What motor do you have? 90 Integra is a OBD0 car and P28 is OBD1. I think the P28 has a light on the top, codes are all the same. When the CEL is on the light should be flashing long is 10 and short is 1 so 2 long and 3 short would be code 23.

P28 does not have an LED indicator for the codes.

You need to jump the SCS connector pin at the ECU to ground. Then the CEL will flash the code.

Sorry, I don't have one in front of me, I was looking at a picture and it looked to have a circle in the middle. Does a 90 Integra have a service connector? I thought that started with the 92 Civic stuff but I am probably wrong.

all obd-0 civics and tegs have the indicator, some of the obd-1 preludes do but mostly after they went to OBD-II it disappeared.

Just to verify, by the "indicator" do you mean the service connector you can jump in the passenger kick area? Is it in the same place on 86-89 Integras even though the ECU isn't there (just for curiousity).

I don't have a car with me today, I just never noticed a service connector and didn't know you could get the light on the dash to flash in a 4th gen civic, I thought you had to pull the carpet and look at the blinking light.

Thanks.

THe 86-89 tegs had the light on the box, no need for a jumper.

That doesn't answer my question though, 88-91 Civics have the light on the box and so do 90-93 Integras so there is no need for a jumper. I'm wondering if there even is a service connector in those cars to use a jumper on.

For example, does my 89 CRX have a service connector I can jump and make the dash light flash so I don't have to look at the ECU light.

no, it either has the light or the jumper not both.

It has the SCS, I recall that being stated on a piece of paper I got with my jumper harness. Thank you for jogging my memory. So the actual CEL will flash?

OK, that answers my question. At first you said to jumper the service connector but a 90 Integra wouldn't have one which was the original reason I was confused. I guess the jumper adds one. Wyo, I would say it should flash the dash light, thats how it works on newer stuff, just jump that and it'll start flashing I would guess.

He is using a P28 ECU which doesnt have the light so he will have to manually do it at the ECU to get the CEL to start dancing.

Also if need be you can always take it to vatozone they typically check them for free. My obd 1 cb7 has a nice little window :p
