I am seeing low boost on the supercharger I installed on my engine. Im just wondering if a supercharger setup is rated at 6psi of boost is this dictated by the engine? these kits(powerdyne) are for V8's with moderated compression ratio. I have a 2.1ltr 7.4:1 CR and I am only seeing 2lbs of boost. I have no leaks and the blower is moving air. could my engine be the problem?

Well do you feel more power?
If you feel more power but your gauge is showing you 2 Psi it could just be your gauge.

You probably have a big leak somewhere otherwise. Superchargers are pretty simple and if something breaks, I dont think they work at all.

Just go through all your piping.

Do you have under-drive pulleys?

what kind of car? Is the kit made for your car?

What car? What motor? What motor is the charger designed for? Which pulleys are you using? What is a 'moderated compression ratio'?

72 toyota celica, 18rgeu 2.1ltr 7.4:1 comp ratio. Factory EFI. supercharger is a powerdyne centrifical supercharger for a ford excursion. I have the pulley that states it will produce 11lbs of boost on the excursion engine. I just bought a 1jzgte to drop in it this winter. I am at 5k foot elevation. with the pulley on it is gets me 7lbs of boost at 7krpm my engine is designed to rev to 8500 rpm. but the blower doesnt like spinning up that high and it is a waste cause I have stock cams back in it. hope this helps. I took my soapy water and sprayed all joints and so far no leaks. I put the anti vibration clamps all over and no leaks.

also I took my intercooler out and bypassed it and got 16lbs of boost!! problem solved. centrifical supercharger doesnt have to be intercooled.

Nothing has to be intercooled, but it's better if it is. Sounds like you have the most inefficient intercooler in the world.

yeah, did you take it out of the excursion too?

nope it was a guy on ebay selling custom intercoolers. he has sold tons so I didnt question it. I guess I should have

Well, I've never heard of an intercooler that loses 14 pounds of boost through it unless there is a HUGE leak in it or something.

Is there a rag or packing material stuffed inside the intercooler? Sounds like something is in it, obviously.
