Well I am thinking about getting a dog. I have never had a dog before and was wondering what peoples experiences were. I wanna get a Shiba Inu. I known a few people with them. But i am also looking into other breeds.

Lots of chewing, lots of no!, housebreaking can be a pain. Make sure you have plenty of time to be with the dog, puppies need a lot of attention. They're like kids, most of time they're a blast, sometimes annoying, and many times angering. Patience and being firm is the best way to raise an obedient dog.

This is a pretty good resource for information about different breeds, their temperaments, and maintenance requirements:

Go ahead and get one! If you've never had a dog before (like myself) you will appreciate it even more.

Couldn't have said it better myself. They are tons of fun, but ALOT of work. Be prepared to have time and $$ set aside for them.

My dog when we first got him last year.
Now he's about a hundred pounds, but he's so mellow and cool. I'll never own anything other than a Rhodesian Ridgeback again. Super cool dogs. Gane came to us housetrained at 8 weeks, only peed in the house twice and once was because he was scared.
