Hey,
Just asking a question for my brother.
He got his car about 3 months ago and just starting to have problems. The guy he bought it from said it has been chipped ( don't know the brand or what the chip does). Not even sure were it is located (since i normaly only work on my DSM); but if i had to guess it located on the driver side of the engine bay close to the windshield; It is silver and has some sort of heat sink. Their is also an intake on it with k&n filter, and a cat-back exhaust.
The rest is all stock with the stock b18a engine from what i can see.
Not the problem.
1. Car will not rev over 3000 rpm. As soon as you hit 3000 it chocks (like the governer is set to 3000)
2. I think his clutch is done for. You have to almost let it come all the way up for the car to go forward, i think that has something to do with the above problem
The car starts fine. Idle is good. makes no weird noises. have not checked compression, wires, or spark plugs (cause idle is good)
If you need to know anything else to help my (and my brother) out to solve the problem let me know
Thanks in advance
P.S.
Sorry for the spelling mistakes. English is not my first lang.

silver with heatsink is the injector resistor box. ECU is inside the car on the passenger side kick panel. Try to reset his ecu by pulling the ecu fuse and letting it sit for about 10 minutes. Could be running in limp mode due to something else but internet troubleshooting isnt the best.
I'm not sure if the 90 Integra has a cable or hydro tranny. If it's cable, there's an adjustment knob you can play with if the clutch isnt done.

I'll try resetting the ecu
It's a cable. I will try and adjust the cables.
Let let you know my results
Thanks for the reply

Near the ECU should be a small two-conductor plug. It is the diagnostic plug. If you turn the car off, jumper the diagnostic plug, then turn the key to the ignition-on position (don't start it), the check engine light will blink out the error codes. A short blink equals one, and a long blink equals 10. this will tell you what is putting the car in limp mode.
P.S. - A lot of the chips for chipped ECU's that are floating out there are junk, and some are bad for the engine. It would probably be in your brothers best interest to get some information about the chipped ECU.

the integra is a 1990 so the light is on the ecu itself i think ( thats what i read somewhere). however when i follow the instructions given i only get a sold red light (light stays on). Does a solid red light equal a code ??
The chip in the car is a mugen pr4
Did the reset on the ecu and the car still only revs to 3000

Try to find a stock ecu and try that. I bet that one is fried.

is their a way to check if the ecu is fried or not??

Go through the steps a couple more times.
Reset ECU
Start up(trigger the error)
jumper diagnostics
If it's still solid, the ecu is more than likely the culprit.
I had one instance in the past where my ecu stayed solid after I jumpered it. I did the above steps a 2nd time and it displayed the number of blinks.

Doh! Pre-OBD1, the light is on the ECU and don't short the diagnostic connector (if it even has one). When you first turn the ignition on the light should flash out the codes.
P.S. - How did you reset the ECU?

I'll try and see if I can read the light again
(But I’m pretty sure as soon as I turn the key it goes full red)
I reset the ECU by pulling the resistor and also tried it buy pulling both battery terminals
By the way thanks all you guys for your help

Ok checked the light again and as soon as i turn the key it is constant red no blinking what so ever.
Anyone know how i can check for a bad ecu, or have any other things i can try

Put in a working one from another similar car.

If you remove power to reset it, I think you are supposed to leave it unplugged for a few minutes, I'm not sure where I read that, but I remember reading it somewhere.

Time to try a different, preferably stock, ecu.

That's what I'd try:

Wow, Thanks rmcdaniels for the browsing of ebay for the ecu. I probably wouldn't have thought of looking for pr4 ecu's i though that was just for the chip. Show you how much i know about honda's
Thanks again i'll try a stock ecu and see what happens

Hmm, why are so many people selling the whole ecu?

Your problems sounds like a distributor thats not putting out the spark it needs.
