did anyone else see the honda tuning article on thier awd integra?? they took a cr-v tranny and rear diff and hooked it up. but what blew me away is they said you could remove the front axles and run it strictly rwd. and be able to do burnout and drifts!! i'm thinking of doing it to my civic. yeah

The clutch would blow out if you left it in RWD, and I doubt that tranny would hold much power.

I have my doubts about how well it actually works. And I don't think it's a simple matter of just pulling the axles out, since the transmission oil would leak out pretty quickly.
The CRV isn't your typical AWD vehicle. It's really mostly FWD with a little bit of support from the rear. If make it's tranny RWD, it's going to have a lot more power going to the rear than it was ever designed to support. That may or may not turn out to be a problem... I don't know, but it's a concern at least.
I'm interested in this, but very skeptical...

It was here for the drift competition. Im pretty sure the diff was welded in the tranny, and I know for a fact it still uses stock rear CRV axles. (weaksauce)
But whatever works, the car is sssssiiiiiCK!!!!!!

I meant the clutch that controls the RWD portion of the AWD. I doubt you could hold a lot of power on that.

they (ht)said they had to shorten da rear axles. also said he welded the input and output shaft of the real-time sys. to make it a lockin diff. and eleminated thereal time sys all together removing the clutch pack and oil pumps.

if my car was RWD i would have an orgasm, i hate FWD launches, especially after having my dads s2000 for 3 months.

So, the real question here is: How much would Honda Ghandi want to build a CRV tranny like that? :D
Anyone know if you could get a limited slip differential for a CRV rear end?

rotfl. I'm a tard ... the non AWD (which WAS being discussed) talons/etc are not RWD?
learn something everyday.
:Peace:
Nope, just shitty ole FWD. The only RWD sport compacts that I can think of are the Nissans.

I remember thinking about taking parts off a crv to make my old crx awd. I realized many things that prevented me from doing this. I don't know how to weld very well, I don't have very much money, and I didn't know much about the crv drivetrain. I really wish I would have proceeded, I'm jealous. When did this guy first start? How long did it take him to do this?

If anyone is up for the challenge, I have a bunch of knowledge on this subject along with a 5speed '00 CRV trans/starter/shifter/cables. For sale!
