Curious if anyone knows if VW even makes a BOV for the new 2004 GLI Jetta? If so where can i find it and would it be worth the time/money? All kidding aside, they sound cool and I want one.
Thanks guys,
Dave

ive been looking for a BOV for my TT as well but i think vw's and audi's have diverter valve instead... but if u just have an intake, u will get the BOV sound you want

Getting a BOV that vents out into the atmosphere(PSSSHHH sound) will cause the engine to run rich on the 1.8T motor. Ultimately your screwing yourself.
You are better off getting the diverter valve, same thing as the BOV, except it vents off back into the intake.
Not sure if this is what you wanted to know. But if you STILL want that sound, get a DV and a CAI and you should be able to hear the PSSSHHH.

Not sure if he will hear it with just an intake, but I know for sure it will be loud with the aftermarket DV and an intake.

Thanks,

fast01TT, most of it is in my sig.
BUT, I just added a MOMO knob, Pioneer 760WATT amp and M.A. Sub last weekend.
I'm planning on going with a GIAC chip once Avalon Motorsports becomes an authorized dealer. Thats as far as performance goes for me.

Edit: I noticed your in Broomfield, by any chance do you go to school at CU-Boulder?

Eh, the DV didn't really do much performance wise. Although I did notice less turbo lag. Its just a prep for the chip since the stock DV's are known for failure.

If you want a nice loud whoosh, get a CAI. I have the GFB hybrid DV/BOV and my car, and it's loud and scary.
Forge also makes a BOV now that should work on 18t's. Also, ECS makes an HKS kit that works without messing with the ECU

yea i heard that forge makes them now, but many say that they dont work well for 1.8t's...hey nolimit, do u have a vw?

yep, I drive a 1.8T
Read this (http://jsalmi.com/bov/) - it's audi/vw "specific".
A bov/dv is not a performance mod. Unless your current bov/dv is leaking and giving boost away, then a new/aftermarket valve will return the power you've been losing via the leak.
This is partially true. A BOV and a DV are, in essence, the same (preform the same function). Some BOVs are designed to vent to atmosphere, some are designed to recirculate. Using a vent-to-atmos valve on a closed system (ala the audi/vw) will cause the car to run 'less than optimal', ie, rich.
