Hey ya'll...I just got the Sirius connection last night. The Kenwood I already have is Sirius ready, so I'm just going to hook everything up to that - and no, I didn't get the Sirius receiver, didn't need it. I just want to know if anyone has ever hooked Sirius up to their existing system, and if anyone can help me out so I don't have to pay $80 install.

I've also got a kenwood head unit which is sirius ready, but no - I haven't gone there. I refuse to pay for radio. :)

But I'd bet that the install isn't hard at all. Time consuming maybe, but not hard.

Yeah I have it in my car. I put in in myself. What questions do you have?

Never. The antenna makes it a real pain in the ass in a car I'd think..but I've never done one yet..

What Antenna do you have? Mine is magnetic and just sticks in the roof of my car. I ran the wire down the weather striping in my rear window, down into my trunk where the tuner is located. You have to have the tuner to run sirius. It is NOT built into the deck. Is this a new deck you bought? Did Car Noise tell you that it is built in? How many wires are on the antenna? I have an older Sirius tuner but you would need the DIN cable because mine got pinched. Probably a special order item from Car Noise. Install is a cinch. (sp)

Here is my antenna:

The antenna will work inside of the car as well, but i think that might affect the reception. A lot of S2000 owners keep the antenna in the secret compartment in the cabin of the car so they don't have a big antenna outside.

I've seen it done on the dash, not in any compartment. If I go under a bridge, slow or fast it cuts out for one second but thats about it. It is supposed to have a clear view of the sky. Correct placing is on the roof of the car, 6 inches forward from the back window. Anyhow, the install is not that bad IMO. Might be easier on a Civic vs. an Altima.

if the kenwood headunit is sirius ready then all you have to do is hook up the antenna booster control module thingy, most people hook it up on the roof of their car or their trunk, and call the 888...something, something, something, number...and give them your esn number, usually found in your owners manual or the headunit itself when you press the satellite radio button, then talk to the operator and hook them up with all your info billing info. pretty simple, and they usually hook it up anywhere between 30 seconds to 5 minutes...usually less...

Wow...old thread brought back.

I guess I'll finish it up. The installation was way too easy. With Rorshack's help, we got it in discreetly. The antenae is mounted on my trunk, and looks good. We ran the cable from the unit to the tuner (inside the trunk) along the inside frame of my doors and through the back seat. You can't even tell it's there!
