oh and the math is like this.....

External Measurements = 27 x 17 x 7.5
Desired internal volume = 1.38 cuft
Thickness of Box Material = .75in

What's the height of your Sub from magnet to surround?

Remember if you go with 3/4" MDF, you gotta subtract 3/4 to represent the loss of space you have facing the back of the sub to get the true amount of space you'll have to fit the rear portion of the sub into. It should fit from a few placements I've seen on a few Z's were it goes in the wheel well like yours.

Looks like that's for a 12". Are you sure it's deep enough to accomodate the magnet? I think there needs to be 3 or 4" of space behind the magnet as well.

there should be 3inches behind the magnet because im giving the sub a slight raise up with MDF rings... im going to raise it 3 MDF rings and slant it more twords the back of the trunk.....

IMO, there is no need for any more than 1/16" to 1/8" of space between the back of the magnet and the nearest wall of the box, if there is no vent back there. That space is just to keep it from slapping the box in case your box actually flexes a bit under load.

If the woofer does have a vented pole, then a gap between the box wall and the magnet equivalent to the diameter of the vent will be sufficient.

Some woofers (like JL) use perimeter venting under the spider, so there is no need for a conventional vented pole piece.
