NXT wax is the first totally new product Meguiars has released in a while.
I believe they started work on it to counter the loss in sales they were getting from people buying amazing synthetic products on the market, such as Blackfire, Zaino, Klasse, Wolfgang and others. The enthusiast was drifting away from Meguiars. So they dedicated their team to creating a product that competes with those. They defintily have more resources at their disposal than any of those companies.
My main problem with meguiars is that they make products for the general consumer, and for professionals. Not for the enthusaist. The consumer cares about low cost stuff that's easy to use. Professionals need things they can buy in bulk that works on lots of different situations. Enthusiasts care about how it looks and how long it lasts.
When I first tried NXT i was interested to see which catigory it lies in. It has all the making of a product for the detail addicts, but still it's a low cost product you can find locally. Marketed towards the general consumer.
My first expeirence with it wasn't all that great. I found it very difficult to use compared to other similliar products. It also didn't leave any breath taking shine. Granted not many people have expierenced this, so it might of been because I had a bottle from the first production run (got it when hardly any distributers had it) or the humidity/temperatuer combo of when I tried it.
Yes it does make cars look good. But so does numerous other products. I'd much rather use something that I know about rather than having to guess. I still might use it in the future and do some more tests. But for now it's going to sit on my shelf for a while. It's a great product for a lot of people, but I look for something else in what I use.
There is no best product, you have to find something that works. There are tons of stuff out there that will drop your jaw with how good your car looks. But it's still worth it to expirament and find something you like. There are lots of factors besides looks. Such as cost, ease of use, longitivity, protection, how well it works with other products, how easy it is to come by, etc...
I'm still not sure where it fits. They describe it like the high tech products I love, but even on the packiging refer to it as a 'wax'. They are marketing it towards the general public. I like to use things that sell themselves. This still might have a bright future though.
note: Typically 'wax' refers to natural products containing 'carnauba' wax. Synthetic polymers or acrylics are usually refered to as 'sealents' Though the terms are not writen in stone and products do sometimes overlap.

Yea. I'd buy another PC from him just to donate to the Lotus fund :)
(Simon did you talk to him about getting stuff yet?)
If you want to find stuff Nick is local. Nice because you can just go down there and pick up what you need. Doesn't have everything but does have some great stuff.
Klasse AIO, SG and P21S can all be found there. That is currently my fav combo.

I'm such a n00b at detailing. I look foward to the detail day and picking up as much knowledge and experience from Paul that I can. This NXT stuff looks like it does sure have some good end-results. But then again, all I've ever done is wash the car not ever wax it before. So I may just be deprived. :)

I got a bottle of that stuff too..I didnt really like it all that much. Nice shine..but on an older car like mine..it really was a pain in the ass to remove. Maybe it was holding on for dear life because the car has never been waxed before...who knows. :)
