They sell the 7336. It's a random orbital sander. Exact same machine as the 7424 buffer, just comes with different things. The only main difference is that it comes equiped with the 6 inch counter weight instead of the 5, which is what you want for buffing anyway.
Of course that's just the machine. You still need pads and the backing plate. I would recomend the orange ones. I think david at Autopia sells them. You can also get them from CMA (www.properautocare.com). CMA probably has a good kit you can buy that comes with a few pads and the backing plate.
I would definitly get 2-3 of the orange pads. Which will work great for any light or medium abrasive (ie to remove swirls). If your interested you can also get some of the softer pads, but I don't really use them.
I use the buffer to fix the paint. If you use the right wax/sealent you shouldn't need one to remove that stuff.
A buffer was a great investment for me because i'm always fixing things. If you only have your car to do, it might not be as handy. Granted you can probably find other cars to use it on, but really once you remove the swirls and learn how to care for your car, they shouldn't come back. After that the buffer shouldn't be necessary. In that case you would be much better off spending your money on some good Microfiber Towels and wax. It's not worth it to make an investment like that if you don't need to use it much. If that's the case just come use mine. I can show you how and it won't cost you a thing.
That being said, my PC was by far the best detailing purchase I have made to date. Completly safe yet gives incredible results.

The PC is a very valuable tool if you are seriously into detailing. It saves a lot of effort in the swirl removal process. Dont worry about it burning your paint. It wont, only rotary buffers do that.
Good investment, but make sure you can utilise it.
