View Full Version : Bike or turbo...

Been debating whether getting a slightly used sport bike, or turbo the car. Both would be fun... bike would be a nice change and get to try something different. Have fun with it, less miles on the Prelude. Turbo would be nice, power all the time (even though I do have power with NAWWS) right now at the cost of refilling a bottle.
Wanted to get some peoples opinions... turbo would be safer - but on a dily driven car that I deliver with, I am debating it of course and wondering if my ghetto setup would hold. :)

I'm pondering selling mine. It's too tall for you though.

Yea, I am a pretty short guy (about 5'6") or so. I definitely want a 600cc bike if I'd do one. Possibly Honda CBR, Sukuki Katana, Kawasaki Ninja, or a bike like those for around $2-$4k that is in decent condition.

Aren't those nice bikes...?
Well, if anyone knows of a good way to start shopping for a bike locally, I am all ears. :)
Also, there was this one class I recall a while back people said it was real good. Name/price would be awesome, and do I need my own bike for it?
Also, how does it go with a person under 18 getting a permit/license?

Brian's taking the class this weekend. It's sanctioned by MSF.

Ninja 250s sell for 2,999 and are fun ass bikes to ride around on, and KICK ASS as learner bikes. Ninja 500's are around 4,899 and are low and still easy to handle and plenty of power. A used 250 might go for around 1,800 so if you wanted, you could do both.

If you are serious about getting a bike than buy these:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1889540536/qid=1088088807/sr=8-2/ref=pd_ka_2/102-3374226-8786551?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

And read through them before you even start looking for a bike.
First two are highly recomended. Read the reviews. You have people who have been riding for years who didn't know 1/2 the stuff in that book. It's amazing what the difference between a safe/non safe rider can be.
Just driving around you can see how many dumb ass people are out on the road. It helps to be able to keep yourself safe. The small investment in those books will pay off immensly. Even if you decide not to get a bike, there are plenty of tips that people driving cars can use too.
HIGHLY recomended.

If i were you i would keep your car reliable and get a bike for speed and fun. Then when it rains or in the winter you can just drive your reliable car.

Since you have a couple extra grand, sell the Prelude and buy something cooler.

In other words, lunch for the suzuki's Jon. Kidding Hung! You could score that Aprilia for cheap and fix the charging system.

well, the question is which would you be in more... Im guessing you drive the car everyday.. so it would bring you enjoyment everyday... Unless you have ALOT of free time on your hands you wont be able to ride the bike that much.

Cooler? Like.. what? A DSM like everyone else? Or wait! A Civic. No? Maybe an Integra! :) Sorry man, I like my car because no one else has one here (Weston you don't count :p)... I rather not be like everyone else. :Peace:

That's a good point. Basically, I'd drive the car for work (delivering)... and the bike pretty much any time I could. To school, some errands, maybe a meet or two. I doubt I'll take it up to the mountains any time soon. It's basically just a 'fun-capable' alternative to the Prelude.

If your under 18, a parent or guardian has to sign for you to take the class. I also have been debating between a fast car or a bike, i think i decided a car becausei know so much more about them, plus i'll just borrow my friends r6 every once in awhile, best of both worlds ;)

Thanks d00d, appreciate it. With my delivery job, it's just hard having the Prelude down for maintenance... so we'll see. I am gonna talk to my dad Sunday about it so he can sign for me to take the class.
