IT'S TIME TO RE-EVALUATE OUR INVOLVEMENT
Every day there are news reports about more deaths. Every night on TV there are photos of death and destruction. Why are we still there?
We occupied this land, which we had to take by force, but it causes us nothing but trouble. Why are we still there?
Many of our children go there and never come back. Why are we still there? Their government is unstable, and they have sporadic leadership. Why are we still there?
Many of their people are uncivilized. Why are we still there?
The place is subject to natural disasters, from which we are supposed to bail them out. Why are we still there?
There are more than 1000 religious sects, which we do not understand. Why are we still there?
Their folkways, foods, and fads are unfathomable to ordinary Americans. Why are we still there?
We can't even secure the borders. Why are we still there?
They are billions of dollars in debt, and it will cost billions more to rebuild, which we cannot afford. Why are we still there?
It is becoming clear...
WE MUST PULL OUT OF CALIFORNIA

OMG 3 things in the past 5 years!!! OMG, this state is bursting with excitement!
BTW, the Kobe thing doesn't count because rape happens everyday, everywhere. The only reason it's a big deal is because the man can toss a basketball fairly accurate.

Oh, settle down everyone... we all know that there are messed up people everywhere. California just has a larger population, and therefore more of them.
BTW: I'm from southern California, and I've seen more nutcases here in Boulder County. And there are definately more people who can't drive for a shit here in Colorado, not to mention the rednecks driving down the road with a beer can in their hand.

Actually no rape has been proven as of yet and the girls story seem to get more flaky everyday.
Violence in Colorado is still waaayyyyyyyyy less than California on any given day let alone what's happened in the last 5 years here.

A larger population does not mean more violence. This has been discussed when talking about other countries. *cough* JAPAN *cough* ;)

I like how people are just making arguments about the crime level without any more than their own belief to back it up. The truth of the matter is that there are good areas and there are bad areas in any given state.
There are far more people in California, so it stands to reason that there will be more crime. However, the crime rate per population is what you should be comparing between the states. Take a look at this list (http://www.morganquitno.com/cit04pop.htm).
Simi Valley, CA has 100,000+ people and it's #4 overall in the nation, and #2 in the 100,000-499,999 population range. And they have consistently been very safe for many many years. It just so happens that I used to live there... I was safer living in that 100,000+ city in *gasp* Southern California than I am here in Longmont or any other city in Colorado. And Simi Valley isn't even a rich area or anything... pretty middle class for California.
California has more than twice as many cities on the safe list than it does on the dangerous list. The dangerous areas are pretty damn obvious and regular people avoid those places. Colorado has no cities on any list there, so it's close enough to average. So, tell me... how is Colorado safer than California??? I want to see some actual facts here...
More population may mean more criminals, but it also means more Police with far more resources. Their fines and penalities out there actually make people take shit seriously too. Here in Colorado, it's a fucking joke... A criminal will typically get a year of probation for his first or second string of felonies.

Oh, and here's an even better list that includes Colorado (http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/safest_cities/)
Well, how about that... Los Angeles itself has less crimes per 1,000 people than Denver or Colorado Springs.
