Saw this on another board and it was fairly sucessfull. I know there are a lot of younger kids here who think reading is 'teh ghey' but I bet there are a lot of book lovers here.
So i propose an HAI book club. Maybe choose a book every 2 weeks and start up a thread about it. Anyone interested?
Maybe we can start with something fun, like the DaVinci code or Harry Potter. Should be something that lots of people who already read will like, but also something that people who don't normally read (ie me) would enjoy.
That sounds like fun. Let's start with the DaVinci Code. GO!

I am definitly down with a book club. We should meet in Barnes and Nobles every other week or something. I think it would also be cool if we played chess.
I am just afraid this will turn into the russian club.

fun fun fun, paul. I'm in. I've been wanting to read the Da Vinci code. Let's do it. I'll start. Okay, I'm reading.
Well, first let me finish my "learn how to be psychic" book. That way I'll know who's lying when they say they've been reading and they haven't. ;) (I really am reading that book)
And apparently you grown up sat me on Saturday night? I thought you were just wanting to hang out with me everywhere. So thanks. I didn't even get hurt.

i suggest we go Angels and Daemons, and then DaVinci Code. you know, chronologically it's more correct, and besides, i'm reading Angels and Daemons now ;)
edit: yes, and i also play chess ;)
edit2: and i'm a nerd... it's Angels and Demons, not Daemons (stupid unix admin spelling ;)

I read both the DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons. Both books kick ars. I highly recommend them. I started the DaVinci Code at 6 AM one morning and finished it at 12:30 that night. I couldn't put it down.

Since I guess we have some people interested, I would really want to do this. I think we should meet at barnes and nobles on 98th and sheridan sometime before the 108th and colorado meet this saturday. Its only like 10 minutes from 108th and colorado.
So who is up?

With The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown masterfully concocts an intelligent and lucid thriller that marries the gusto of an international murder mystery with a collection of fascinating esoteria culled from 2,000 years of Western history.
A murder in the silent after-hour halls of the Louvre museum reveals a sinister plot to uncover a secret that has been protected by a clandestine society since the days of Christ. The victim is a high-ranking agent of this ancient society who, in the moments before his death, manages to leave gruesome clues at the scene that only his granddaughter, noted cryptographer Sophie Neveu, and Robert Langdon, a famed symbologist, can untangle. The duo become both suspects and detectives searching for not only Neveu's grandfather's murderer but also the stunning secret of the ages he was charged to protect. Mere steps ahead of the authorities and the deadly competition, the mystery leads Neveu and Langdon on a breathless flight through France, England, and history itself. Brown (Angels and Demons) has created a page-turning thriller that also provides an amazing interpretation of Western history. Brown's hero and heroine embark on a lofty and intriguing exploration of some of Western culture's greatest mysteries--from the nature of the Mona Lisa's smile to the secret of the Holy Grail. Though some will quibble with the veracity of Brown's conjectures, therein lies the fun. The Da Vinci Code is an enthralling read that provides rich food for thought. --Jeremy Pugh

I already read that and I think plenty of people know most of the stuff taught in that book.
I think we should meet and discuss the book we want to read first. Since we will be meeting at a barnes and noble we can pick out the books we want to read and get a good preview of what anyone suggests.
How is Tuesday 7:00 June 28th?
Barnes and Nobles on 98th and Sheridan

how about we meet near the Mills. I think there is a large book store in the mall, but there's also a BNN across the streat. It's by a few major highways (i-70, 6th, c470) so shouldn't be to far for anyone. There are also a few places around there we could meet to grab a bite, like tokyo joes, qudoba and others. We could do it a week from today maybe?
