Which of the two would u perfer and why. Think about the factors that im a high skool student, i drive hard and fast most of the time. I like a comfortable ride but wit some kick behind me i have to keep up wit a 1989 V8 5.0. I want then inside luxuary part way but i im modin everything eventually no matter what i get

What kind of Jetta? If you want to go fast, I would pick GST, it would respond better to mods IMO.

i know that much buts its still a v4 even wit a turbo charger and the jetta would be a VR6 or TDI
It's a straight four. What do you mean 'even with a turbo charger'? An eclipse is the same exact thing? Anyway, tow things to consider.
1) If you are going to get an Eclipse, do it right and get an AWD one.
2) My car is just a straigt four with a turbo and I'd fucking blow the doors off a stock '89 Fox Body.
Also, despite all the recalls with the New Jettas, the I think it would be the nicer car hands down.
Eclipse would be way easier to mod though.
Good luck. :)

a TDI? as in the 90-hp motor that gets 49MPG? Good luck making that fast. 1.8T Jettas are pretty nice cars and they have no turbo lag.

Buy my talon if you are going to mod everything. It has leather, power everything. Plus it will save your high school ass on some insurance money too.

My roommate sold his 00 Si for a 02 VR6. You can tell that the car sucks compared to the Civic. If you were going to mod the car, go with a GS-T/TSi.

Are you serious????? AWD = All Wheel Drive. GS-T is a front wheel. The Eagle Talon TSi is the same car.

GST is the front wheel drive model and the GSX is the AWD model. They both have the same motor tho.

Personally I would pick the Jetta, but I a a little partial. I would venture to say my jetta is a nicer car in a lot of ways. And it's probably a lot safer, for a high school kid who drives like an idiot that is important. And if I were you I would go with a 1.8t jetta. All I have are a chip, downpipe and intake and mine ran the times in my sig. I know it has more in it, but these days I have no time to get to the track.

i agree with most of whats been said. an eclipse would be much easier to mod probably. is there a reason you are wanting a gs-t over a gsx? if you are thinking of modding an eclipse... this is a different way of looking at it than most would. if you decide that awd isnt important to you and you plan on upping boost etc i wouldnt get a gst eclipse. i would get a gs or rs that doesnt have turbo. that way you arent paying for a turbo twice. your going to scrap the stocker and get a bigger/better turbo anyway. for about the same price you could have bought the turbo you want and have more boost. i would talk to a lot more people about jetta's and eclipses before you decide on either. imo the eclipse is better looking but jettas are nicer inside.

The only thing I have to ask is;
Have you driven both of these vehicles?
The reason I ask is because the jetta is an awesome car and very nice inside, but the german engineering done to the car gives a much different aspect than japanese cars.So drive a Jetta and an Eclipse and make a decision based on how comfty you feel in the car..Making it faster can come later.
I personally don't care for the german cars only based on the fact it isnt user friendly for me.Nothing feels comfty inside(except for the power of course)
I'm not bashing the VW's,but they truly aren't for everyone.
Good luck and hope this helps out.

2000's were made either place depending on model(wolfsburg, GLS,GLX)
and i have driven both cars thats why i want either... thoose are the ones ive been out on the rode wit and had enjoyied. but i drive kinda hard especially on long trips which i take a decent amount of. i love the gas mileage and inside of the jetta but the persicion and power of an eclispe are what drew me toward it plus then are the ones i found for sale around my price.
