Just got a D16Z6 head to do my Mini-me. The silver valve cover has some bad oil stains I can't get out. Tried Gunk, Tire Cleaner even Oven cleaner the stains are lighter but still there any ideas? Or should I just put a paint job on it and call it good?

Is it true if you take off the valve cover, you need to replace the gasket with a new one?

brake cleaner will definitley work with getting those stains off the valve cover.

You dont have to replace the gasket EVERYtime but if you do it more than 2-3 times then you should get a new one.

I would say depends on the condition of the old one. You also do want to dab some hondabond on the cam and distributor edges.

Thanks for all the help everyone! I used the brake cleaner then sanded it down it still had a dull finish. So I decided to go ahead and paint it. I didn't want to but it turned out really good. I used a wrinkle paint tutorial from Honda-tech. Here is the link to check it out. Let me know what you guys think!

Oh lol, no..no The black cover is from the D15b7 cylinder head that I swapped out for the D16Z6 cylinder head. The blue one is the one I painted and the black was the old stock. The blue turned out allot better than I thought I like the texture to it.
