from experience - i liked Yokohama. they should be good in low-profile sizes. also Bridgestone. haven't used any other brands.
are you going to buy tires and wheels separately? i tried calculating the price - and it is really cheaper to get a package. was looking (and still am looking) at 17", but the difference shouldn't be big

Do yokohama es100's I work at Discount Tire and by far those are the best for the price and they get good wear, they are not noisy, they get good traction, and the tread life if good as long as you arn't doing burnouts ever day.

:werd: Yokohama has tread life exactly fitting warranty period. they were warranted for 45000 miles, and when i did those 45000 miles, they almost became bold, but every mile was great!

Anyone have any experience with Falken Azenis?

Yeah, get the ES100's... Grippy on dry pavement, great wet traction, and good life.
By "Falken's", I suppose you mean Falken Azenis? I run them on my Integra. They are a great tire, but a bit of a waste if they only see street use or just an occasional trip to an autocross or track. They are very grippy... quite possibly the most sticky "street tire" out there, but they really aren't that much of a street tire. They are not expensive, but they really don't last. 10k miles if you are lucky, and daily driving will heat cycle their grip to death before then. Their sidewalls are steel reinforced, which is good for handling, but the ride will be a bit hard. A lot of people say they are bad in the rain, but that's really not the case if they still have a decent amount of tread left; without tread, they'll hydroplane like crazy, but that's the driver's fault for driving with bald tires. Either way, the ES100's will kick their ass in the rain.
If you were referring to the Falken Ziex, then they are just a decent inexpensive street tire, but there is a world of difference between them and the Azenis.

What about the Yokohama V4S's?

What kind of driving do you want to do?
I talked to a lot of autocrossers that love the Falken Azenis unless it rains, then they hate them, probably not a good daily driver as they are dangerous on wet pavement at highway speeds. Yokohama AVS ES100's work real well for some Alfa and Fiat people I know and I see a lot of Kumho Ecsta MX's at the track that people say work well wet or dry.
I've got Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's on 17's. The 712 has okay grip on dry pavement and excellent wet traction. Treadwear is good also. I'll be getting rid of them soon for some 16's with either ES100's or Ecsta MX's.

I just do normal slow driving with 17's with the occasional whiplash around a curve type of thing... just want a good year-round all season tire, none of this summer tire shit anymore.

I'm running Yokohama Avid H4s with no complaints. 205/40-16
They do well in the rain, grip is good. Turn in is decent, but not top notch. Previous were Sumitomo HTR+ which were a much harder compound with less grip but they seemed to be a little quieter.

Avid H4 on snow are not really good. you'll survive, but it's not a fun drive. i consider them to be summer tires

I get all my rubber from Walgreens. Seem to have the best prices IMO.
Plus they have the large sizes that are so popular with the ladies.

azeni are great tires, but a bit much if you're just gonna do cruising/occational "spirited" driving. I'd reccomend Yokohama AVS ES100 or Kumholio 712's for daily driving.

No snow yet since I got them put on. I do have a set of stock steelies with studded snows, but I try to stay off those unless I go up skiing or something.

I ran Dunlop fm901's for my crx, before things went to hell. They had great dry grip, rain wasn't too bad, and I didn't go anywhere in the snow. I wasn't planning to use them in the snow, but when things happen to your other car, you got to do what you got to do. They are a little noisy, but they were a good price off tire rack. I don't think you'll get much life out of them, I think tread where was around 200. I liked them though.

Ive had two pairs of Falken ZIEX ... they dont last more than 10k with autoX's ... but the reason I get them, is they are fairly sticky, cheap, and work great in the rain, in the snow, and on dry pavement.
How are the es100s on snow?
I dont want to change my tires between summer and winter either. Except for race days when I finally get some damn azenis ;)

i got the es100's as well, and they are damn good! i have them on my car and they are the reason my clutch is gone now. they definately stick more than you think they will. im not sure how they are on snow yet, but i got them either way regardless of how they are in the snow. im thinking it will be worth it. id still recomend the es100's
