Not all of us can afford a short shifter...

So I made my own! Well, sorta. It's more of a cosmetic thing.

FIRST, WE SEE THE OLD UGLY STOCK SHIFTER THAT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR SOME MONSTER TRUCK.

STOCK THREADS...

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0231.JPG

YOU'LL NEED ONE OF THESE TAP/DIE KITS TO RE-THREAD...

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0234.JPG

I NEEDED SOME SORT OF JUG, AND THE ONLY ONE I COULD FIND WAS A WASHER FLUID ONE ABOUT 1/4 FULL. SINCE MY CAR WAS ALREADY FULL, I THOUGHT I'D BE A LITTLE ANGEL AND GO AHEAD AND FILL MY MOMS CAR...

WHAT CAN I SAY, I'M A GOOD SON...

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0252.JPG

CUT UP JUG IN ACTION TO CATCH MOST OF THE LOOSE THREADS OF METAL. THEY HURT LIKE FUCK.

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0254.JPG

THIS PART SUCKED, IT TOOK SOOO MUCH MUSCLE...

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0259.JPG

LUCKILY I BROUGHT MINE! :D

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0264.JPG

I HAD TO BUST OUT THE DREMEL TO MILL DOWN THE SIDES OF THE SHIFTER A BIT...

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0269.JPG

TOO MUCH MUSCLE, I BROKE THE DIE WHICH LIMITED ME ON HOW MUCH FURTHER I COULD THREAD DOWN THE SHIFTER...

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0276.JPG

THE RETHREADED SHIFTER WAS DEFINANTLY NOT PRETTY, BUT IT SUFFICED...

http://photos.imageevent.com/leonz/kris/icons/DSCF0277.JPG

END RESULT WAS A MUCH SHORTER (IN HEIGHT) SHIFTER.

I WENT AHEAD AND MADE MY TAILIGHTS ALL RED WHILE I WAS AT IT... LOOKS PRETTY GOOD IMO. :) THANKS FOR READING.

nice work, and i might steal the idea, but... "poor man's shortshifter"? geez, they are a dime a dozen! i payed like 10 bucks for my shifter ;) you could call it an "innovative man's shortshifter" though :D
(i'm definitely stealing your idea!)

Thanks everybody!

I just painted the reverse lights red too because I thought about it, and I don't ever drive in reverse and I park too far out to need the reverse function. I'm a ricer. :)

Just make sure you don't get sued when someone runs into and says that they couldn't see your reverse lights.
