Bought some new replacement gauges for my prelude but the mileage is 140mph and my originals only go up to 120mph. How do I go about changing this otherwise the car will say Im going 140 when Im really going 120mph. ANy advice appreciated

I don't think it works that way.

I agree...that just makes no sense at all...

I think he's referring to his stock speedo reading 120mph while the new one reads up to 140mph.

Well, I think that he thinks that because the position of the 140 mph marker is in the same spot as the 120 mph marker, that the needle will just display the same position. If you got the whole new guage, I would think that the speed sensor would properly interprut the correct speed without you having to do anything. Of course I may be wrong though.

Right, but I'm willing to bet that since they are the same size that the 140 and 120 sit right on top of each other, and that is what he is worried about.

Yes Ive bought a white faced gauge that sits over the stock one, the new one ive bought is identical apart from when the needles pointing at 120mph on my stock gauge the equivelant position on my new one is 140mph and obvioulsy this applies to all th lower speed. In other words the new gauge goes up quicker in speed than my new ones.

Oh you just bought a cover? Sell it and get the right one.

Theyre all the same, the pics show the vtec and the si are 140mph, mines a JDM so its an Si Vtec, I bought an Si by mistake but the Vtecs show as being 140mph as well - does anyone know where I can get one for mine, I would like to have higher speed on speedo if poss but by the sounds of it its not possible

Why? You probably won't be going that fast anyway.

Its nice when I do though, when it gets to 120mph I dont know how fast Im going after that. Its not really that anyway, if I could find one that was 120mph the same as mine Id get it, its just thyre all 140MPH. Mine was kmh but it was changed to mph before I bought it which I guess is why Ive got the problem, what speed does your speed limits go to? mines a 2.2 Si Vtec (93)

2.2? What does that mean? Mine goes to 140 I think.

2197cc = 2.2

Anyone know where I can get a new gauge cluster (the whole unit with speed, reve, trip, odometer) in MPH. Also if it has different speed to mine will the new cluster and the speed sensor wkow this so itll tell me the right speed. Ive been seraching the net but cant find anything, any ideas?

If your gearing is anything like mine, I doubt you'll be going far over 120MPH anyways... it's really NOT that big of a deal is it? How often are you going to need to know how fast over 120MPH you are going? Not to mention, stock speedometers get iffy around that speed anyways.

I need it really so I can put white gauges on as they are all 140mph but mines different for some reason.

On my Speedo gauge, there is a metal calibration tab. At the factory, it is calibrated, then glued in place. Even though mine is an Isuzu gauge(DENSO), I would assume that all gauges have something like that for calibration.
