`busted valve spring retainer

my car took a big crap the other night (too much hot doggin' for my own good). took the valve cover off and so far i can tell that only one valve spring retainer is busted. any guesses on what that might of done down below to the block? or did i just mess up the head real bad?

well if you guessed it would shoot the vavle down into the piston and the piston pushed the valve into the seat sideways then and totally f-up all my shit then your right.

That's what mine did when that happened. The valve split the head and the stem was pushed through the side of the cylinder. New engine time. What kind of car?

it was a 97 civic with a 98' h22a4. but i plan on getting it rebuild now that i blew it up. but fundage is slow as my job collecting aluminum cans doesn't pay much. maybe i can sell a lung or a kidney. or both.
