Does anyone have a good overview of how rev limiters work? I saw this one MSD's site:
"To assist with firm launches, there is also a rev limit that can be activated that will hold the engine at a steady rpm so you can launch at full power!"
So does this mean with this I can hold down the pedal at 'WOT' and specify it for say... 4,000 RPM's and it will launch and that and then go to redline? How's that work?

Probably you tie it into the clutch switch that your car uses so that you don't start with the car in gear. Once the switch is thrown (the clutch is let out) the box switches from launch control to normal ignition.
The box itself cuts ignition once it sees that you are at the specified rpm just enough to keep you at that RPM.
This is great for turbo cars because you can get load on the turbo (like a torque converter loads an engine). It also makes you more competitive in brackets because you launch at the same RPM.

Ahh, interesting. Thanks for the info. :)
I was thinking it'd be cool to use for consecutive similar launches...

that's more or less what a stutter box is, it's a two stage rev limiter to hold the engine so you can build boost

Don't some standalones come with that?

Hondata has it also, i have one, never really used it to launch, only used it to do a 2nd gear burnout
