does anyone know somebody who would be able to make me a test pipe. just a straight 3" section of piping to replace the cat. just to flanges and a very small section of piping. does anyone know where to go for that. i tried going to a couple muffler shops and they gave a really hard time about it even though i told them it was only for the track. its for a 93 civic w/LS turbo. thanks.

Performance exhaust shop probably would do it. And I'll bet with some internet time you could find either downpipes that eliminate the cat, or some test pipes.

where is that shop? im in the Springs. i would actually also like a test pipe that comes straight from the down pipe and bends to the side and comes out just behind the front wheel. thats why i would rather have someone custom make me one instead.

I meant "a performance exhaust shop", I guess try some more shops in the Springs. I'm sure someone will build one for you, they just can't install it.

Bud's is cool, they will do whatever you want.

I'm thinking of going with an exhaust cutout when I do my new header.

yeah bud's said they wont do it...they told me to call some emmissions tech center and tell them i wanted one for track use only. i didnt know what exactly i was calling them for, but i just left a message. are they supposed to do it for me or something?

its illegal for exhaust shops to work on a car with no cat.... or at least thats what they told me.

I had a hell of a time getting a test pipe (well not really, just an extension for a modified exhaust, but its the exact same thing as a test pipe) made even though I have an exhaust manifold integrated cat that I never touched.

I'd just buy some 3" ss tubing, cut it to lenght, and find a buddy that can weld. You can pick up the flanges at any exhaust shop.

Bud' muffler :fu: they suck. I took a Dynomax race muffler to them to have some flanges welded on, I was going to use it for a resonated test pipe, and when it was done it cost me $50 bucks for two flanges and having them welded on. Then the guy who runs it came out of the back and started to chew my ass for having THEM do it. Screw them I wont go back again.

It's not illegal for them to work on a car with no cat, they'd rather not so they don't get blamed for removal.
If they remove a cat without replacement It can be like 5 years and/or 50k fine...Also it's a federal offense.
I'd be the same way if I owned a shop. It's just too risky..

Alex said that he bought his offline shipped for like $35 I think. However, I can't find the damn website he claims he bought his from.

Ok here's what happened. I bought a Dynomax bullet style, race muffler, from Jeg's, to use a resonated test pipe, to quiet my car down. I never told any of them what I wanted it for, although I took in my regular test pipe for them to see the kind of flanges I needed and how long it needed to be. The guy at the counter said fine, no problem, give them a couple of hours and he'll have it done. When I went back, they butchered my muffler, they had cut off one end of the muffler to weld the back flange to and then welded another piece of tubing to the front to make it the right length, since they cut too much off. Then the guy says that will be $50 and Im like WTF? but I paid it since I wanted it and nobody will see it under the car. Then the guy that runs it, the one behind the counter in the TV commercial, comes out and says to me what's that? Im like its a silencer for my race car. Then he says that he could get shut down for making that. I said why, since its not going on a street driven car, its for my race car. He was like rrriiiiggghhhttt!!! I said believe what you want, you got my money, and he was being a total dick. He also said that he could recieve a huge fine as well. I was thinking to myself, why dont you chew the guys ass for doing it, not mine, I didnt put a gun to his head and make him do it. Plus for as shitty as it looked, I could have done better myself, and I dont know how to weld.

I bought that same muffler, how does it sound? Are you using just that, and are you turbocharged?

I was using it along with my Tanabe cat-back to quiet it down some and it didnt seem to work. I dont think it did much since it is 2.5" and my exhaust is 2.25, which I found out afterwards. I'm not running a turbo but I am running nitrous.

Hmm, well nitrous won't quiet the exhaust like a turbo will. I bought the bullet muffler/resonator and a four ich round muffler (well, maybe, I forgot what I bought) to put them both on the car. So hopefully it will be pretty quiet.
