I recently acquired a SR20 and am looking to get the block sleeved and well as the head ported, shimmed, and lapped after new valves/retainers/springs etc. Wanted to know if any of you have good experience with local businesses or could recommend a place to sent the head to. Thanks.

You can have all of the work done, except the porting, at the NAPA machine shop. That is where most of the shops/dealers send that type of work to anyways--you would just be cutting out the middleman by going direct. You could port it yourself, trust me, it is easier than it looks.

I learned from this page, used a couple different bits on a dremmel and was amazed at how easy it is. If you don't trust yourself right away, goto A1 and buy a head and practice. You will be an expert in 30 minutes, you just have to learn what bit works best, and how the aluminum reacts.
Be prepared to spend some time on it. I spent ~45 minutes per port, measuring with a digital caliper to make sure everything was within .5mm. Expect to spend a solid 8 hours doing the intake and exhaust, plus another 8 on the plenum and manifold if you are port matching.
Here is my work:

Good luck,
