Vinyl tubing for vacuum hose?

Is it safe to use vinyl tubing for a vacuum hose (if it matters any, it's for a nitrous system)? If not, where can I buy some rubber hose 3/16" ID that'd work.

napa, checker, autozone would probably have 3/16 rubber hose.

Also vinyl hosing is really shitty around heat.....it has a tendency to melt.
