Ok this kid at school yesterday was telling me you can port and polish the block of your engine. I know this is BS but he doesn't believe, today he walks in telling me he will bet everything he has I am wrong. Will you guys correct me if I am wrong but you can not port and polish a block.
Um, you mean as opposed to bore and stroke a block? I guess you could port and polish some oil passages or something, but it wouldn't do anything that I know of.

you can port and polish a head, and you could probably polish the outside of the block, but I've never heard of porting and polishing a "block". You can bore and stroke it tho. AFAIK, you don't want the cylinder walls to be polished anyways... I forget the term that they use for it, but they normally put like light swirley marks all over the cylinder walls. oh, maybe it's honing.

Hatching marks? They come from honing.

No.. What would you be porting? He's wrong... just make sure you can bet something he can actually pay up or it's no good... Tell him he is getting confused and is talking about bore and hone.. making your cylinders bigger not your ports in your head... um yeah...

yeah... he's an idiot. port and polish... polishing the last thing you want in your cylinders, that's why you deglaze (a.k.a. hone) your cylinders. and i assume by porting he means boring. but regardless of what he may or may not mean, he's an idiot.
