Well unfortunately a couple weeks ago my GTI was broken into outside of my apartment(near 6th and Simms) I think someone was casing it because my alarm has always been set since I owned the car... every time I parked it. Well that weekend my alternator went out and my battery died because of it and since I don't have a back up battery(lesson learned for next time) no alarm. So I came out to my car that Tue. morning opened my door and saw the damage to the dash and the missing c.d. player. Went to the hatch and the lock in the back was completely gone and so was my box, both my amps, my capacitor, and my parcel shelf which my rear speakers were attached to. They ruined my dash, my heater controls, they shoved a screw driver in between my door and door handle and ruined the door. and the lock in the hatch was smashed out. They took 82 c.d's and about 3000.00 worth of stereo stuff. The box was a custom power mouse built by non other than the bass mechanic and was widely regarded as the nicest sounding system by everyone who ever heard it. Kevin put in many hours of blood sweat and tears into it, not to mention basically my life savings was into it also. The estimated damage was 3600.00 dollars not including what was stolen. Needless to say the insurance company totalled the car. They also gave me the finger on everything that was stolen. All said and done they are only going to pay me 1200.00 dollars total for the car. The real bad news is that I still owe 1800.00 dollars on the car and have to come up with that 600.00 by friday or Bellco is going to take me to collections. So if anyone see's an Mtx 8100d, an Mtx 4244,a clarion dxz935 dual face cd player, or one of Kevin's power mouse box's with custom VW GTI plexi glass covers for sale, give me a shout, it could be mine. Also I am having a real hard time coming up with this money. I am trying to sell some wheels and a racing seat, so if anyone knows anyone who might be interested please please let me know. Normally I would never even ask but I am in a bad situation right now. Thanks

That's shitty, I live near you, which appartments are you in? And what year is your car? I'm surprised that they totaled it, although I'm not surprised that they didn't pay for your stereo, since it's not covered anyway.

I live in Westhills.
It was a '91 GTI 8v and was green with shitty prime five stars and was slammed.
Yeah Farmers said that since I didn't have an "endorsement" for the stereo it wasn't covered. Which I didn't even know I had to have, because when I was with State Farm and my stereo was stolen, they covered it.
What do you drive? I might have seen/heard you before.

anything bolted to the car in the dash should be covered, as long as it was bolted in. Mine is. But that wouldn't cover custom bolted stereo boxes, etc. in the trunk though. Just my opinion, but go tell farmers to eat a d*ck ;)

They should cover the stereo since it's replacing the original one that was there, but the amps and sub boxes and stuff are extra. I drive a white 90 Integra.

Both times my stereos were stolen, State Farm covered them. Stupid pricks! I'd get a second opinion by a different estimator - or even talk to your agent. I can also refer you to mine, who's excellent.

Bummer deal about the car. That sux big time! I wish I could help you out, but I can't at this time. Good luck!

Yeah the total loss estimator figured in my 600.00$ cd player as 75.00$ "street value". I filed a complaint with the insurance commision, talked to the district supervisor, had a claims investigator investiagte the claim and they still wouldn't give me anymore. When the first adjustor estimated it, he was only going to give me 600.00 dollars so I guess thats good. Although it still really sucks. It wasn't the greatest car in the world but I put a ton of work into it and loved it all the same...

That's what makes it tougher....it's not the value of the car itself, it's the value of your work and your pride.

Wish I could help...

Thats why my biggest pet peive is having my car garaged.. I'm sorry man... I live kinda near you and used to live at west hills like 6 years ago and I drive past there everyday to get my girlfreind from school.. If I see anything I will let you know... Also stu.. does your integra have shiny rims w/tinted windows? Do you drive down garrison much? Just wondering cuz I always see a couple of different white tegs cruising on garrison....

Yeah thanks everybody. If anyone has ever seen/heard that box they know how unique it is. And believe me before I have another dream system I will have a garage. This is the third time i have had my stuff jacked. The c.d.'s really hurt too. Have to start the collection all over again.

Powder, no, my car looks old and shitty. There is NOTHING done to the exterior at all except the rear and side trim is color matched. There is also an HAI sticker in the passenger side window since some fuckers shot out the other one while I was driving a while back.

I'm sorry to hear what happened. Even more sorry to hear what the bank is doing to you. If it makes you feel better I'll jack a few stereos from their cars when they add them at 4:00 on a friday.

yup i have to agree, state farm is generous when it comes to paying for personal properties, most insurace out there, if your car is totaled, they will only pay for the car, not the accessories, but with state farm, my car was stolen and totaled, they pay for the car and the system, and any parts that i've added on, i lost my receipt of some of the stuff but they told me when ever i find it, i can just fax it in and the will reimburse me for it, its prmium is a little higher than others, but i think its well worth it
