depends on how much money you want to spend. v1 locators run about 350-400. there's a company that has the v1, lidtek laser detector/jammer set up for around 2000.

V1 is the best. the next best thing is escort passport or bel. i got the bel 985 unit, it has saved my azz numerous times.

Buy the V1 and if it's too much for ya now.......save your money and buy a V1.
Don't even waste your money on the others unless you get the high end Passport, which is like $1200-$2000.

Well, Im not looking for something to save me when I going 200MPH in my Mercialago.

I just something that will warn me of cops within a braking distance.

save your money for the v1. while other radar detectors beep and show you what band they are using. the v1 will show you where the source is coming from, and how many sources, along with showing you what band. one more then 1 occasion, i passed by a location which i know has a door opener, but a cop was in that area as well. so when the count went higher then 1 source, i knew something was up.

I've had my V1 for 2 years now and just bought a Passport 8500. Although both are very sensitive, I've been spoiled by the V1s display showing where the signal is coming from.

That would be none if you dont react in time. Reaction is key to saving your hide from the fie oh.

I have a passport 7500 and it works really well. 8500 are a little bit better but the 7500 has the same sensors as the 8500.

But either one is the best for the money.

i don't know, i sorta gave up on this radar technology. there's no way to hide from laser, and there's almost no way to escape instant-on signal. just watch out!
oh, and there's no way i'll say something like "don't speed" ;)

That is so true most places like aurora for one is now going more with laser technology. Which sucks because by the time it tells you some one is lazering ya its too late.

The V1 is quite good at picking up laser, but it's line-of-sight... it doesn't bounce off buildings and over hills and stuff, so if you can detect it, then the cop can see you. The V1 has still saved me from laser many times though... I got the warning when the car in front of me was being clocked and was able to slow down before I was in the crosshairs.

I've also got a v1. I drove a 600+ rwhp supra for a couple years with the V1 and accumulated zero tickets.

I would not drive w/o it. I've gone through a bunch of lesser units until I saved the $$ for this one.

Just get something, and make it a V1 if $$ isn't an issue. You do get what you pay for.

it's $400? yeah, it's rather expensive. but you guys were stressing the money issue so much, it got me thinking that v1 is way over $1000 ;)
