1) What assembly lube do you guys like, or does it not matter (i.e. use white lithium grease, who cares, it'll all be gone after the first 30 seconds)? Keep in mind this is a used head with used cams going into it, so the contact surfaces are sorta kinda broken in already . . .

2) What seals should I replace while I'm in there, aside from the headgasket, the cam seal plug, valve cover gasket, distributor O-ring, i.e. the real obvious stuff?

3) What torque should I go with with my used head bolts (no, I'm not replacing them with ARP studs, and I'm not convinced I need to)? The head is shaved .015" in case it makes any difference.

Thanks in advance!

You mean Motul motor oil? Or do they make assembly lube? I'm not familiar with their products other than the brake fluid. I just went to Checker and picked up some assembly lube; it was like $2.59/tube.

Answers to my own questions -

2) Hey, don't forget the seals at the ends of the CAMSHAFTS!!! Another delay . . .

3) 61 lb/ft is the factory spec for head bolts. BTW, the cam bearing fixing bolts are supposed to be torqued to only 7 lb/ft, and the cam gear fixing bolts get 27 lb/ft. Thanks to Weston for digging that info up for me on the Net last night while I'm in the garage . . .
