View Full Version : vtec going out
i got to thinking about the h last night and remembered that it started feeling like vtec was going out soon after it kicked in. the initial hit was strong, but then shortly afterwards it'd feel like it went out. my thoughts were because of the stock fuel pump from a d15. but i'm not sure...any have ideas?

Check your oil, it might be getting a little dirty

VTEC operation has nothing to do with the fuel pump size. If it is going out it should set a code and light the CEL.

What if it doesn't kick in as hard as it used to? There is some screen that can be cleaned, yes? Where is that exactly?

Its underneath the solenoid itself in the gasket.

i'll have to have you take it for a spin after i drop it into the new one. I thought it had something to do with the fuel cause when i put 93 in it, it felt like it should. T thought that it was just me getting use to the torque but I dunno. :(

Sounds a bit strange to me. In my own non-technical terms, VTEC either works or doesn't. It's such a minimal gain in power when it "kicks in", I'm not sure how a butt dyno would determine it working any better or any worse at any particular time.

In my case, I could feel it kick in very strong up until I went supercharged, then I couldn't feel it anymore but could tell it was still kicking in from the dyno and the VAFC. I just want to have a look at it.

Mine was full of metallic crap when I took it off.
