Hey everyone, I was wondering if i could put a 98' Accord EX engine(F23A1) in my 89 CRX. Does anyone know a good site dedicated to engine swaps I could check out? The engine I found is in really good shape with like 65,000 miles on it. is $700 a prettey good price? Thanks-Loren

Why not a B series? Fits better. And if people can fit H22's in Civics, could fit it in a CARX, but rooms gonna be real tight.

I'm sure you could but the costs would probly outweigh the benefits... NOBODY EVER CONSIDERS THE B20!!!! (CRV engine) Look into a b20... That is seriously my dream engine... :)

I dunno about the tranny, but for the actual motor to fit in that car you are going to have to buy the conversion mounts that will fit an H-series motor into a CRX. H and F series motors share the same mounts.

I've got your dream engine, hehe, but it's a b20a not a b20b/z in my Prelude. :)

Thanks for the replies.. will the B20 use the same motor mounts? Where could I find an engine for around 700 that wouldnt be such a hassle. Thanks -Loren

When you say engine for $700, do you mean shortblock, longblock or full swap? About the only full swap you can get for $700 would be a D series. I dont think you can even get an F series swap for that low.

Yes, it is the full swap. Its off of a 98 accord EX that was wrecked.

b20 would use b-series mounts... I don't think any USDM CRX's came with b-series motors stock.

$700 for a full swap, I'd prolly take it. :)

Well, it sounds like if I ge a B series, I need new motor mounts, and if I get the F series, Ill need new motor mounts... the F is cheaper right now, so should I just go with that? Does anyone know where I could get the motor mounts? (Would i take them out of the accord and weld/bolt them in?? Thanks

the CRX is going to have to be switched over to OBD2 or OBD1, man wiring will be fun for you too... not worth it...

Good point, I was kinda worried about that. Whats OBD1/OBD2?

OBD1 On Board Diagnostics, it is the type of computer the car is running and different year cars have different computers.

You will need the OBD-I switch as well as mounts. Dont forget that there is little to no aftermarket support for the F. Good luck upgrading in the future.

Well after all of the input I've decided not to get the engine. Thanks for all the info and suggestions to all that posted. - Loren
