Ok, My dad owns a car dealership and he asked me if I wanted to trade in my 201k mile civic dx for a 89 Supra Turbo he got on the lot... The supra has 80k original miles on it and has K&N Intake and a Turbo Timer. The supra is in pretty good condition but needs rims my current car is a 93 Honda Civic DX with 201,000 miles on it and the cluth and motor are about to go. Ive been wondering thought I have put alot of money into cosmetics of my car and this car has nothing outside. My Car has a Wing, Custom Paint, Konig Toxxin 17" Rims and Intake and Exaust. I am 16 so my budget is really limited on making my civic dx even fast enought for the highway. I really need some opinons and some help... has anyone ever seen a old body style supra look good?

Do it! And you live in L town? Where? Anyways, I'd go for a Supra. Once you put a metal headgasket on em, you can get some big power with a turbo and some fuel mods. Plus they're RWD, and can really handle when you get the right parts.
I'd trade in your car just because it has a wing on it.

Hmmm...your 16. keep the slow car so you dont do anything stupid, because you will do stupid things. and everything that youve done to your civic, take it off before you humiliate yourself even more.

I know about being 16 and stupid but guess what... I'm done being the crazy driver that I was my first month of driving because I got caught street racing (With a friends OLD Civic Si) and the cop gave me a 20 minute lecture about just turning 16 and what street racing can do. So I know you might think ill do something stupid but im a lil more controled and mature then your average 16 year old.

When I was 16 I had a 11 second Toyota p/u truck. Not all 16 year olds are dumbasses, most but not all. Get the supra, maybe a manual boost controller and have fun with it for a bit til you really get use to it. As you start making more money (or receiving it) then start modding it. They are pretty much a bullet proof car in stock and close to stock form. Have fun!!!

Anyway.... Get the supra. My bro and I just finished his 88 project and I'm loving driving it. It's probably twice the weight of your honda but it's a badass car. The handling is great and the GTE sounds better than your 4 cyl ever will. On the downside...aftermarket (and stock) parts are expensive and hard to come by. The popularity of the car is nothing compared to hondas, but that's a good thing! The head gasket is def a problem, but as said get a metal one to replace it when it goes out (and it will). And also RWD is a good thing. But if you put a wing on it I'm going to steal your car because that's just not right. :) Justin

Keep in mind 89 is the tabboo year, very few interchangeable parts electronically. As far as being bulletproof I rear ended a guy going about 20 mph and it didn't even put a scratch on the car.

Alright so I got a 89 supra that I traded for my civic in case you guys dont know and guess what, the first day I drove it the master cylender on the clutch is leaking and the air filter fell off... I have no idea how much the fix is going to cost. The car is defenently a step up from my civic going around a corner the turbo kicked in and I did my first ever powerslide and man was that some fun shit ;-). I'm loving the supra but am not enjoying the price I am paying for it. I want to go through the car mechannicly but im not quite the master mechanic and this cars motor has so much crap in it I dont have any idea what to do, I was wondering if any of you might have the time to come help me go thru this car.
Thank You,
TealCivic (well not anymore )

yeeahh...trading in a civic for a mkIII turbo supra....GREAT idea if you have the money. i almost bought one or two, but ended up keeping the jetta cause anything is easier/cheaper to maintain than those cars. so have fun! i am still jealous....
