Hey guys, im 16 so im not a car expert yet but recently I experianced a backfire with my car... I think there is a loss of power but im not quite sure I might just be getting used to my car. I will soon be swapping in a h22 or b18c1 to replace my current d15yb until then I was wondering what could have happend... The car has 201k on it so im not going to be suprised if I killed the motor or not.
I know you guys are probably thinking hes just the 16 year old that watched the fast and the furious and is a ricer who races around town and is going to lose his license in a week, but the truth is scince I was 10 years old and my dad drove a eclipse GSX with exaust and a aftermarket turbo on it ive been obsessed with the import scene. Its not until I turned 15 that I really got into Honda's/Acura's.
Once I can find a job involving computer hardware or website design I will plan on doing the swap because my current cash flow is 5$ a day (Lunch Money (LOL) I paid for my own car and everything I have done to it with money that I have made building computers and websites so dont think that daddy paid for my car either.

Why did it backfire? Timing off? too much NAWZ? The backfire itself probably wont damage anything but you may have a loss of power from a problem that also causes backfires.

I will check my timing but I'm assuming its not off because the only mods I have put on this motor is intake and exaust. I refuse to do anything else to this damn DX motor...
It backfired at 3,000 and happend after I had floored my car.
Could there have possibly been some unburned fuel or something.

boy! when I was your age I could take rebuild a honda engine with only a breaker bar (not enough money for a ratchet when I did it) probably didn't work but it seemed good, im sure I could do better now that im older and wiser (17 :D )
I know its rare to find a highschool student without a fart cannon and body kit on their car, but I have found a couple. Well I guess only Mario and now you but soon the word will get out :D

I'm a highschool student and I don't have a fart cannon or hideous body kit. In fact all that money I saved on not ricing out my car has gone to more important things. Like the turbo I am installing right now.

Thats funny I look older than I really am. With the amount of rice in highlands ranch, I truly am a minority. If I had a nickel for every teenager I see driving a pep boys special, I would be one rich son of a bitch. Oh don't even get me started on the mvhs street racing team.
