Do you have the heads? or are you looking to buy them? Is the car a 3.8 or an Ls1?

Well, when your looking to buy a set of heads you need to know what you are going to do with the car in the future. What are your goals? You only want to buy 1 set now and be done with them. Nitrous, Turbo, or Staying Naturally aspirated should all play into the equation. Are you going to drag race, road race, autocross, or just want more power on the street?

Fill in the blanks, I think I have an idea of a set of heads for you to look at.

i want to stay naturally aspirated. Im not looking into something for serious racing of any kind. for the most part...just more power on the street. I was just thinking heads and a cam. I probably wont go any further than that.

I would leave the stock cam, get an LS6 intake manifold and bolt on some of these....

205cc LS1 Mongoose Street Head
The Small Port, High Velocity Torque Monster

For the ultimate street LS1/LS6 aluminum cylinder head AFR’s all new 205cc emission legal head are your only choice. Specifically designed for 1995 to present Gen-3 Chevy Corvettes, Camaros, and trucks. AFR’s LS1 head offers unmatched flow performance (300 CFM at .600lift) and features 2.020 intake and 1.600 exhaust valves with AFR’s iron ductile interlocking valve seats. With only 205cc port volume (same as stock LS1 head) this is an incredibly 70 CFM increase over stock casting creating unbelievable port velocity and performance. The 205cc is ideal for normally aspirated 346C.I. to 396C.I. It is available with 66cc and 76cc combustion chambers. An affordable “as cast” version is also available. AFR’s LS1 is a direct bolt on, no special parts required. Structural features like Air Flow Research’s trademark 3/4” thick head deck, a must for blown and nitrous applications, reinforced rocker stud bosses, and thick wall runners provide unparalleled durability. An exclusive new modern combustion chamber design with double quench pad area helps the LS1 generate huge low and mid lift airflow numbers. If you need a snake charmer for that pesky neighborhood “Cobra Mustang” look no further.

Note:
Hydraulic roller cams typically experience valve float at 6000-6200 RPM because of their fast ramp rates. AFR suggest you upgrade your springs to AFR part #8019, 1.450 O.D. double with dampener valve spring with higher pressures to reduce the chances of valve float at higher RPM’s.

Im not even sure if im looking for that much power. I was thinking maybe a set of 5.3litre heads ported and polished. The guys at ls1tech.com seem to like that set-up.
