The whole front of the car is moulded in one piece which can be removed only by a Volvo mechanic.

according to Merriam-Webster, it's both:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=bonnet. it's just British term for hood. Funny thing, in Russian language the term hood also has a confusing similarity with the word used to describe a women's hat ;)
as for the new Volvo - let women drive this car, only let them first design roads for themselves also.... :)

some dumb lady will fill up the windshield cleaner with gas..... and the gas with winshield cleaner
