Hello,
I'm glad to be joining the club. I'm in the process of buying a 2001 trans am ws6 with t-tops and a 6 speed. On my test drive, I got a check engine light to come on. The dealer claims it's from having the car sit on the lot for a while, but I'm a little bit scared. I want this car so bad. I'm bringing it to my mechanic tomorrow for a quick check up. Hopefully, if all goes well I'll be on here a lot more.

That is bad. I wouldnt trust the dealer's explanation of the CEL at all.

Hi, I've sold cars before, and I can tell you right now that the salesman had NO CLUE what he was talking about. Now at least you can talk them down a lot. Just go test drive it again, and take it to get the light scanned. Then talk them down some more, you can do it dude.

Reset the ecu and see if the light comes on again then you'll know if it is really serious.
