<TT>Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.Personally I would like to know who came up with this and why thatperson is not running the country.</TT></PRE>

<TT>1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in yourhead)</TT></PRE>

<TT>2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT thearea code)</TT></PRE>

<TT>3. Multiply by 80</TT></PRE>

<TT>4. Add 1</TT></PRE>

<TT>5. Multiply by 250</TT></PRE>

<TT>6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number</TT></PRE>

<TT>7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.</TT></PRE>

<TT>8. Subtract 250</TT></PRE>

<TT>9. Divide number by 2Do you recognize the answer?"</TT></PRE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></P>I didnt recognize it! I guess it's supposed to be your phone number ;)

it didnt work for me and i want it too ,cause that would be hella cool way to get chics phone #'s , i think they think it was preety original, so for those who it worked for, do you hit the = after every step? or do it in one big peice then hit ='s, i tryed it both ways, and when you add the last 4 digits of your phone # do you actully put + then last four and + agian plus last 4? or do you just put in the last 4 twice? lol i know mnaking it more complicated than it needs to be, but it isnt working maybe its cuz i have the new 904 pre fix number, let me know thanks

If it didn't work you did it wrong....

I don't see why people think these are so amazing, it's math not magic.

Let x be the first 3 digits of your number, let y be the last 4. Here is the expression you get from the steps above:

(x*80+1)*250

Let's stop there.... that's times 80, +1, *250. Do you see what that equals? You should get 20000 * x + 250. Ok, now lets add y and y again, or 2y, then subtract 250, which really just cancels out the 250 from above. So before the last step we have: 20000 * x + 250 + y + y -250, or simplified we get 20000 * x + 2y. Ok now lets do the last step and divide by two... big suprise there, we get 10000 * x + y. Wow... OMG it's magic. Hopefully at this point you can see why it works. x is a 3 digit number, we'll call it XXX, multiply that by 10000, and you get XXX0000. Now add y, which is 4 digits, or YYYY. Wow... look what we get. XXX0000 + YYYY = XXXYYYY. OMG it's the original number... how l33t is that

I don't think the person who came up with this should run the country... they could maybe teach algebra, but that's about it. Though it would be interesting to see if the person running our country could figure this one out....

Here, first step before those, take your area code and multiply it by 10000000 and then add the result from the rest of the steps... then it gives you your full number!!!

OMG I am teh genious!

A real math trick is showing that that all rational numbers can be maped to a subset of the positive integers....

If it doesnt work..maybe YOU should definately run for office. DrJones: I'd give them at least geometry level teaching..its almost "somewhat" clever.. :p

Take all 7 digits of your phone number, square it, subtract those 7 digits, divide by those 7 digits, and add 1.
