I have this stupid filter at my school that is stopping me from looking at any cool websites(including HAI ). The filter is called Bess. I have read a few things about connecting to a proxy server, does that mean I could reroute the connection to my home computer and run my connection through my house? I am thoroughly confused, networking and this stuff is not really my area of expertise. Maybe this is the wrong way to be going about this, does anyone know how to get around it?

theoretically yes, but you would probably be better off just finding a free access one, google it, i'm sure you can find a list

Like forum said just find a proxy server from a list online and give that a try. It may or may not work, but is worth a try. Here at work they actually have internet explorer set so we can not change the proxy derver from the default. Most school's are probably not that smart though.

I had that problem until I found the administrators password

login - administrator
password - password

my workplace blocks certain c\sites also (thankfully not HAI :) ). I just found an online proxy and went through that, until they decide to block proxying.
