I have an 88 crx with a b18b1 basically stock, the last motor i had in there passed emission ok but this one the readings says it has a high Co of 39.2691 and is only allowed 20.00 i believe its in ppm(don't have the emission papers here) some probs might be rich mixture, or sticking injectors as the emission paper states. Does anyone have a solution to this prob because i want to run it again tomorrow, any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have an upgraded fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator/riser? It could be running a little rich.

Thats the funny part, the motors bone stock, i had another b18b1 thats was mildly hoped up and when that motor gave out i put this bone stock 95 b18b1 motor in it. Everything is stock i even used a stock exhaust from a 95 integra cut and welded to fit my crx but it still didn't pass. I don't have any check engine light and the car isn't throwing any codes. Can it be the O2 sensor? The cars puting out twice the legal limit on Co at 39.xxx compared to the allowed 20.00. Thanks for the reply's guys/gals.

Getting emissions here in about a couple of hours, There's i believe one wire going out from the O2 sensor, any idea to where it goes just in case if it is off, So I know where to place it. Yo thanks for the help so far.

What color is it? Or is it a single wire O2 sensor? Did you buy a single wire O2 sensor?

naisaboy00

Its a black single wire. When i cut to fit the integra exhaust to fit my car i kept the o2 sensor that came with the integra. I just need to know where it hooks up to. Just in case its off. The car is at my parents house right now. Just trying to get as much info as i can so i don't have to run back home.

should be a single wire connector off of a trans bolt bracket

Sweet, Thanks. I'll post on how everything goes today.

I took a look at the o2 sensor and it's pluged in. So i think its a bad o2 or sticking fuel injector, I called a shop and found an o2 sensor but it they say it has 4 wires. Will this work and how should i go about the injectors, might as well do both before i emission it today.

The 4 wire one's have a heating element in them. You can get single universsal one's at any auto aprts store for 20-30 bucks. Well atleast down her in TX you can and I don't see why they won't have em for that price in CO.

Here is a solution.. Find a chick to take it in for you. I have the emmision hook up here in Colorado Springs.. Doesnt take much for me to get it done.. just a smile and an extra 20.. I recently got a DSM to pass that would have NEVER EVER passed.. the guy ran the emmisions on his truck and i came back for the paper.. it was very nice...

Before you drop a bunch of money on an O2 sensor, did you check the obvious?

New plugs, gapped a bit tight.
Clean air filter.
Make sure the car was well warmed up (drive a min of 45 min) before the test.
If you have to wait for the test, keep the car running to keep the cat hot.

Throw a bottle of Heet in the gas tank (or any other form of fuel grade alcohol)

My sparkplugs and airfilter are fairly new, I drove the car around for a while before i ran the emissions, and i let it idle while i was waiting(3 car infront of me) but i didn't try that heet which i might do now. I don't know if i have time today and try to run it. But so far everyone's been giving me some awsome advice. Thanks peeps

4 wire sensor wont work. If your injectors ar ebad the car would run very poor. Its a Honda not a chevy, so the injectors are probably NOT your problem.

True, my car auctally runs perfect, no cel, no smoke, and has great power, the only prob is the high o2, i'll just try that heet additive and run emission on tues(my day off) and see what happens. This is my backup work car but i can't drive it because the plates expired. I'm still on a quest for that motor for my work car. So if there's anyone out there!!!! Looking for a zc or an 92-95 civic ex motor
:D

To anyone that cares, Before i ran emission the other day, I replaced the o2 sensor i had from another engine, ran a bottle of Heet to my half tank of gas, let it idle and drove it around for about 30 mins then drove to emissions, they ran it and it failed even worse. This time it failed on Hc Limit 3.00 my car 3.44 and Co limit 20.00 my car 41.71 so now screw it, I'm just gonna let it sit until i can work on it when it get warmer. I found an engine for my work car so now that has priority. Just wanting to say thanks to Ghandi and everyone elese who took time out and gave me suggestions and finding a motor, Thank you. :C

i use to work for the emmsions place
make sure you have a good cat also and that it is nice and hot.
alot of people failed cause they just drove to the place and got tested with a semi warm cat.

hey did u try to replace the cat???
with a fresh one.
if you have fuel pressure regulator lower it down a notch
dont put additives in your fuel they do worse for you.
if that dont get it then you probably have crappy valve stem seals or piston rings.
hc is just too much unburnt fuel.
also a new pcv valve might help.
