kind of, I work in the same type of shop, the products used aren't going to be the best. I'm not saying he would do a shitty job per say, but I guarantee you would have much better results talking to someone like Paul.

It is hard to define a "good" detail. Some people just want their car looking the best it can. Some people just like the status sybol of driving a car that is detailed. Some people just are about low maintance and products that last. Differen't shops and detailers do different things. I think all detailers can learn from eachother. Especially ones who have been doing it so long.

That being said... Meguiars and 3M make some great products? Which Meguiars line do you use? I like to use Meguiars and 3M, but I doubt I would ever have only them. There are lots of different products that give different results. I like to give people choices, and work with them to chose the product that works the best for them. There is hardly a single product that is the best in every situation.

I think that is what sets my details apart from shops. Shops typically find a good product line and stick to it. I am always trying new stuff. Shops are also in it for the business. They do it to make a profit. That doesn't mean they do bad jobs, just something to think about. I do it because I really enjoy it.

I don't think you can judge how good of a detailer you are by what kind of cars you have done. Most rich people aren't avid detailers, and don't do much other than look for someone with a good reputation. I think detailing average cars is far more rewarding than doing nice ones. People expect nice cars to look good, they have awesome paint jobs and are taken care of. The real challenge is when you can take a 3 year old average daily driver and make it look better than most $65,000 luxery cars.

If you were going to rate your skills as a detailer by what you have detailed, than 3000Sypderman has got you beat by a longshot.

You should attend the next detail session we have? I'm sure everyone (including me) can learn a lot from you years of expierence.

-PaulYou truly do love detailing too much... I personally don't care if it has body panels as long as its fast....

at first i though the title says "is anyone interested in a good blow job" So I checked to see if it was a dude. I got all excited when it was, but then I reread the title.

I'm not coming to any parties if you're going to be there in the future.

It will take me a little while to get all my stuff in order and order what I need to. I don't really do much detailing during the winter, because it's winter, and school is more important. But once the weather cleans up a bit I'll be more than happy to get some vehicles shining again. My usual price is about $20-$30 for suplies, then ~$20 depending on how happy you (and I) am with the job. If I can't get it to where I think I should be able to than you don't owe me anything. A few people here can vouche for that. Even if the final condition it's in is far more than your expectations. I don't detail to get rich I detail to help people and vehicles.

dr. jones if by 3000spyder man you are talking about heinrich then you know one person that i have actually learned allot of skill from. he worked at mercedes benz of littleton where i also used to work. i do agree with you that 3m and meguiars are fantastic companys but i do not use only those exclusively; i use many different product like you said to get different results. every step is different for every single car. regardless if it is brand new or if it has 400,000 miles no matter what every buff and combination of chemicals and application will be different. one thing i never do is stick with one product like many shops do, that is just rediculous because that is just giving every car the same deal when every car is different and has seen different conditions throughout the vehicles life. i do every car to my standard and if im not happy i will continue working on it till i am happy.

I smell a "detail off" brewing here guys!
Paul is indeed the man, hopefully I can get my ITR back to him this year for a full detail. The 1st time he did my car, it looked better then the day I pulled it out of the showroom.
