View Full Version : Extend Oil Filter with line?

I saw somewhere... that someone basically 'relocated' the oil filter by using a line, and moved it. I thought this was a great idea, would make oil changes a ton easier on my behalf. Now, would there be any downside to this?

Yeah, you have to change the lines every two years. I did it, and I mounted it in a place where I have to unbolt the bracket cause the fits so tight, but otherwise, its the best way to get pressure to your turbo

Changing the lines is no problem for me, even if it'd be every year that's cool.
Second question: Is this something I can just buy in a store... or having it premade? Or is this custom made?

I got is from Summit Racing. It's like 40 bucks, comes with everything you need to relocate. All you need to do is make a T to get a pressure line to your turbo.

Awesome - now, I can run the turbo's oil lines to this hose that goes in between the block to the filter and that'd be ok?

Yup, just need some plumbing stuff from Ace. I used a three way female junction, a threaded end on the feed line, and two barbed fittings for the oil filter line.

Awesome, thanks a lot man... I'll prolly just do the oil relocation kit first, and then run my turbo oil lines later once I do the all the other prep stuff. :)

Mario my race car has one. It has stainless lines that dont need to be replaced. I got it at ontrack performance in Denver. Its about $200 and uses a standard Toyota filter.

Ontrack definitely kicks ass. Got my feed line there.

i've been thinking of doing it myself. Best place I could find for it is relocate the battery, and put it where the battery used to be.

What kind of crappy lines are they that have to be replaced? I installed an engine oil cooler in my Z, about 6' of line, been good for years.
If the line used is heater hose, don't even go there, that might last two years, but it didn't last me 500 miles. I used some hydraulic hose from NAPA, 6' was only $15-$20.

Its from Summti Racing, no idea on the type of hose, that's just what's reccomended by Summit. I have a few friends running this setup and they've had no problems with the same type of hose.
