Linksys Wireless Access point... works fine in BSD with a linksys card in my laptop, I can surf and ping no problem.
Switch to XP and the access point "associates" but no data is transferred, verified by both cisco and linksys wireless cards in two different laptops. The cisco utility shoes the wireless card is transmitting but not receiving... the only thing it receives is a crapload of PLCP CRC errors. huh?
Web util for access point has not changed... unplugging the access point for a few minutes and pluging it back in also shows no change. Changing channels, no change.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is a different access point, but the friggin thing worked fine in both Windows and BSD yesterday.

When you logged into window when this happened, did you by chance get a message that said "Warning your password will expire in 14 days, do you wish to change it now?" and if so did you change the password. A friend of mine had the same problem when some certified fucktard who thought he knew more than me installed the router and fucked the way the router and windows worked together. He set it up so that when you change the password your screwed until you restart the network. There are some routers that basically work on the same principal whether you set them up as a simple network or advanced network. This applies especially to wireless networks. Your best bet is to restart the network, unplug everything for a few minutes including the modem its hooked up to. Then while your waiting turn off password expiration in XP. Heres how to do it if you dont already know.
go into control panel
go into users and passwords
click on the advanced tab
under advaced users and management theres an advanced button
a folder should open and on the left side there should be a main folder-
called Local Users And Groups, underneath the main folder should be to sub-
folderss called Users and then Groups. Click on Users find your profile. Right click it and select properties. When the next menu pops up look down and look to see if "Password Never Expires" in unchecked. If it's unchecked check it.
Now proceed to boot your network back up. Hope this helps.

We see that sort of error a lot with the newer wireless stuff..clear out your list of available or "preferred" networks and try again. You might also update the firmware for the AP and the card if you havent already, some of them can be pretty flakey.

It has nothing to do with password expiration, my passwords don't expire.
The funny thing is that I was going to update the firmware on the card but had the firmware update on my workstation and wanted to grab it over the network to install it, hence why I booted into windows. I updated the firmware on the AP with no change. It just doesn't make sense that it works fine in FreeBSD and chokes on two different laptops with three different cards with Windows. It's not new hardware either, as I've had it for well over a year now, possibly two years. If it doesn't work on a friend's AP tonight, I'm gonna go for something non-Linksys.

More updates... I checked windows and cisco card at a friends house and it worked fine... came back to my place and nothing in windows, but works without a hiccup in BSD. This is the strangest problem. Google has nothing like this. Upgraded the firmware on the cisco card, still nothing. Later tonight or sometime tomorrow I will reset the AP and redo all of the settings just to see... if that doesn't work, I'm gonna call up their tech support and see if they will send me a new one free of charge, or only for the cost of shipping, regardless of whether or not it's warrantied.

I haven't really had any problems with my wireless router, most of my problems have been with the netgear pcmcia card, netgear doesn't update firmware forever after it should be, I want to use wpa but noooo
Stab windows repeatedly and with mucho gusto. :)
I know that is absolutely no help at all, but I love to get in jabs at windows whenever possible.

update: YES, it works. I restored AP to default settings and then put everything back in exactly as it was before, now it works in Windows again on both laptops. Stupid Linksys, why in the world would you need to reset it to factory defaults after connecting via unix once or twice? I'm still getting a bunch of PLCP CRC errors tho, but it's not affecting anything. Well it looks like for now I saved some money from chunking the piece of shit in the garbage and getting something else.
