Alright, my friend is about to get a 91 Eclipse GS-T for pretty cheap. I haven't seen the car or anything, but since its cheap and he's got another car to drive daily, we're going to build it up pretty good. And since there are several members with experience building them, I thought this would be a good place to ask.
First what I know: The car has 110k miles on it and the engine seems to run well.
My reccomendations: First, we should replace all the seals to prevent oil leaks and check the compression. Assuming all that is good, my friend is first
Replacing the downpipe and the exhaust with a 3 inch one of each.
Next, he's replacing the fuel pump with a Walboro 255lph pump.
My next recommendations:
An MBC, real boost guage, K&N drop in filter, removing the boost restrictor pill and silencer, and cutting some holes in the filter box.
He wants to eventually put in a 16g. For that I think he should put in a new radiator, a FMIC, 660 cc/min injectors, and an AFC.
Any feedback will be appreciated.

First off I would get datalogger, then put in a guage and MBC, run 12PSI, get a bigger fuel pump, run 15 PSI, new stronger clutch cause yours would probably be out by now, get an exhaust, get some sort of fuel managment (SAFC) then get a bigger turbo (16g atleast, I personally would go 18g) then the sky is the limit.
check out DSMTuners.com, they have some upgrade paths on there. They also have some good forums, as does DSMTalk.com :)

You don't have to remove the pill in the stock BC if your buying a MBC. All of which your doing sounds like a good plan. I'd just do a compression test, replace any gaskets you see leaking, oil, filter, thermostat, new antifreeze, basic shit mainly. Are you looking for a basic order to go in with installing the parts or just gonna do them all at once? If one by one I'd go K&N, DATALOGGING EQUIPMENT, mbc, exhaust, injectors-fuel pump and AFC at same time. You can get metal tanked radiators at Advance auto parts and they are the cheapest in town for a 1G, I know cause I did some shopping last summer when I needed one. Stockers have plastic tanks which suck.
I have a PDA, datalogging cable for a 1G DSM and 2 different kinds of software if he's interested and I'll be in town next week if so, $150 for all of it. It's a Palm VX about 1 month old with stylus, cradle, and charger, and used 5 times and the cable. Perfect shape. Lemme know.

S1ingle: The GS-T's from the Springs, that's where my friend is from, and he's buying it off one of his friend's down there.
Ryanman: I'll talk to him about the datalogger, I think that's a pretty good idea.
How are the headgaskets on these? Do high miles and increased boost mean blown head gaskets. I'm pretty familiar with the 4G, just want to know the little details.
Also, how do we bypass the weak stock MAF? I've heard of splicing a 2nd Gen one on, and I'm pretty sure AFC's run off the stock ones.

Yeah just lemme know about the logger.
Headgasket should be fine BUT if your worried about it really bad or you get that far into the motor then replace it. I really wouldn't worry about it. I boosted 25lbs on a stock 165,000 mile motor in my auto GSX and never had problems and know of lots of others who've done the same and not had problems with the head gaskets.
I HIGHLY suggest getting a 2G MAS. You can run the AFC into the same as a 1G. More than likely you'll get fuel cut with a stocker even if it's gutted anywhere above 16-18 lbs on a warm day. If he wants a 2G MAS I can bring one with me, $75 bucks. I ahve a friend there in Denver who also has some 550's and a AFC for $250 bucks in perfect shape. Lemme know.
Oh and I got a greddy turbo timer I'll sell for $75 with a 1G harness.

Hey Ryan, my friend definitely wants the MAS, the injectors and the AFC.
But before we get the datalogger, what does it log? Boost, injector pulsation, or intake flow? Intake temps? He'd like to know before he buys.

The AFR and 550's are there in Colorado at a friends house. I'll have to go get the MAS from a friend down here as long as he has one left.
I have 2 different programs for logging. Tunerstein-which is a major PITA and MMCD which is super easy and works awesome.
MMCD logs rpm, injector pulse, knock, o2 voltage, TPS position, ISC steps, timing advance, accel enrichment, coolant temp, air temp, baro, EBRT, battery voltage, low-mid-and high fuel trims, O2 trim, air flow HZ, and air volume.
You can also read CEL's and test the following solenoids - Purge, EGR, and Boost. You can test the fuel pump and pressure and test injectors 1-6. You can also program custom sensors into it and monitor those. You can set alarms for when/if a certain (whatever you choose) any sensor goes above a certain limit. That good enough?

LOL, yeah that's enough. Thanks for the description. I'll link my friend to this, and I think he'll get it.
Nevermind, just called him, he'll buy it all. The turbo timer, AFC, MAS, logger, and the injectors. PM me when you'll be here, and I'll let him know, and we can set up a meeting place and time.

I won't be able to get on the net from ym g/f's moms house cause they live in the stone age and don't have a PC. PM me with your # and name and I'll give you a call when I get in town. Thanks.

tip #1 NABR
tip #2 tooners and talkers isnt the best place to get "technical" DSM info.
tip #3 join the local DSM clubs. co.dsm and rm.dsm
tip #4 NABR
make sure that maintenance is the first thing done. the car will not take modifications well if it already has problems. this is where the datalogger and gauges come in as the first mods. each car is weird in their own ways, so figure out the quarks of the car for a few months before you jump on it.
tip #5 slicks. WWD need slicks to pull the time as their AWD brothers
all in all the pan doesn't look shabby. but get on the local clubs lists. thats the best way to get specific information, not tooner ibr information.
