Haha, using a toggle switch. Wait... that's a good idea! *runs off to run some electrical plans*

Better yet would be activating the horn every time the TPS sensor sees the throttle open more than 25%.

Now that is an idea!

I couldn't see the video, but a nice feature on most of the volkswagen aftermarket "chips" is valet mode in which it hasa rev limit of 2500 or 3000 rpm, and a top speed limit of 25 or 30 mph. You enable it by pressing the cruise control button for several seconds until the check engine light on the dash begins to flash.

Use a micro switch like the nes found in a Nitrous kit. would work great. I think I'm gonna do that to my moms beamer. 'burnout:

How would you turn it off though? And what if the valet guy knows how to turn it off?

I have that sort of thing with my ECU. If I know I am going to drop it off at a shop, I install the program with a lower rev limit.

Wow, lower rev-limit is a great idea. Do like a max of 1000 RPM's.

Hrmmm, what about when they warm up your car? Fast idle would be lowl ol.

you don't rev your car to warm it up. you drive it

Not me. I gotta let my car warm up, my engine oil and tranny oil are stiff as hell, like this morning. I usually let it sit for about 10 min before school.

I start my car, let it idle for about 30 seconds and drive off but don't get above 2000 rpms or so til it warms up. 85% (or so) engine wear is at start up due to low oil pressure.

werd me too. My idle sits anywhere from 1500-1900 depending on how cold it is.

I start it up and let it idle from 30 to 60 seconds, then drive it conservatively until it warms up. It wont really warm up until I drive it, but the oil pressure will be good almost immediately... that doesn't mean it's lubricating perfectly just yet, but my point is that it doesn't really take time to build up the pressure like most people think.

I just hop in, give it a few revs, drop it in gear and floor it. Warms up REAL quick that way. If there's frost on the windows I just have my bottle of water that I pop in the microwave before I head out. This is only on work cars. For the Si, well it gets babied no matter what, so it's warm by the time I get to work, damn constant fan.

Yeah, my car's oil pressure is at 70 from when I turn it on until it warms up all the way, and it only drops to as low as 20 if it's all the way warm and at idle, while not moving.

Oh yeah, anyway, this would be a great way to attract attention to your car if it's ever stolen. I'm going to work with Tobi on something like this.

OMG, Weston, let's set something up where not only does the horn go on, but the headlights go off? Or just have it kill the car everytime you hit the brakes.

Weston

Dude, now you're fucking stealing my thoughts!

I was thinking about making it honk the horn, turn on the parking lights (thus illuminating the license plate), and flashing the brights... maybe have a little light show with the reverse light too.

Of course, this would really be a backup to a backup to a backup for me, so it's very unlikely anyone would get that far...

Or just have it kill the car everytime you hit the brakes.there are already alarm systems that do exactly that.
