Well after 3 days of running around an installing my New GTR FMIC.
Cars finally ready to hit the dyno. We did the install at the place where it's going to be dyno'd at. But since we were supposed to have finished last Saturday and Dyno then. I'm hoping they'll have time to get me on it tonight.
Hope all goes well.

ps: I'm taking video so if I ever figure out how to host the video's I'll post it up.

Well,
Didn't go very well.
Started off the night trying to set my LTFT's. Only to have the 02 sensor die while out. (a wire broke off right at the plug so no chance of soldering)
So barrowed one from Elite.
got it up on the dyno with everything set at Zero (I have dsmlink V2) and 20psi on 92 oct. (base run)
car did 266whp (woo hoo!! j/k) A/F was like 9.3:1 something rediculiously rich.
So we started to lean it out. got to 10.5:1 made 310whp or something close. But had like 5.1 counts of knock so we had to shut it down early. (5 counts on a 2G is 5 degrees of timing being pulled, ie: Bad!)
Couldn't figure out why it was knocking so bad for so such a rich A/R. and not necessarily crazy psi level?
So after an hour of trying different things. (coil packs, MAS, other misc sensors, spark plugs, etc) I just said well lets turn the boost down.
so at 17psi the car made 300whp when cold(203coolant temp) but 287@(210 - normal running temps on my car)
But still knocking way to high especially now with the lower psi.
did a compression test of my car. (2 times)
Now accouple months ago I did a test and came out 155 across:
At elite my car showed 189-192 across. We we figured maybe the compression tester was broke. so we grabbed another one Same thing. 189-192 across.
(this might be what's causing the knock)
Anycase we weren't able to even start to tune the car due to the amount of knock we were seeing.
We tried just about everything besides replacing the knock sensor (didn't have a spare at the time)
It might have been a bad tank of Gas. Who knows.
But I put in 93 oct yesterday and did a couple more logs and knock went down. But I really haven't had time to try to tune. Do to a snow storm that hit us.
I'm trying to schedual more Dyno time next week and am going to run some C-16 to see if that elimates a bad knock sensor. I'm also going to bring my spare knock sensor just in case.
So when I left. dyno numbers were 290whp @17psi with an A/R of 10.1:1 (or so rich my head hurts from Gas fumes, heheh)
I think next week will be better. and I got 7hrs of dyno time basically free.

Damn dood thats high. I always put in 160 thermostats in my DSM's and they normally run in the 180 range and I've always seen the most power in the 180's range. Good luck though.
5 counts of knock isn't all that much. The 2g ECU pulls 1 deg of timing for every count of knock? Isn't knock summed first? In my 1gs (using the TMO logger) I never saw timing get pulled for only 5 counts.
160 deg thermostat is too cold for the 4g63 (well, for the ecu). 190 is just right.
Which turbo are you running? Are you running higher than stock compression pistons?
Running high octane isn't going to 'eliminate a bad knock sensor'. You need to replace the faulty part. And O2 sensors need to be considered 'consumable' bits, esp in DSMs. :)
Congrats on the numbers. Tune for 12.0 - 12.5:1 under good boost. It's still fat, but better safe than sorry. I had my supra tuned for 11.8:1 for 20psi + under, and 11.4:1 for up to 30psi.

I've been battling the high coolant temps for a long time. I even pulled out my A/C system along with the decompressor to help free up air flow for the Radiator.
I'm running a 180 degree thermostat (stock is 180 deg) - sometimes my car even runs as high as 210-213 regardless. Hell (its' like -20 degrees here in MN and still running that high)
Also at 5 counts of knock the check engine light comes on. (I know you can change that with the dsmlink but it comes set there as a warning, and I prefer to not even break 3 counts of knock) Plus lets not forget I was only running 17psi. at an A/R of 10.5:1 (in the low 10's) which isn't so rich that It would cause knock. But also isn't so lean that it would cause knock.
Mod list of relavence:
-HRC TD06 S20G w/10cm exhaust housing
-Ported 2G Manifold
-2.5" 02 Housing
-3" downpipe/exhaust (thermal Wrapped downpipe)
-Apexi GTR FMIC
-2.5" Short Route I/C piping (thermal Wrapped)
-1G Throttle body
-Mangus 2G Sheet Metal Intake Manifold
-Stock 2G 7 bolt still has Balance Shafts (50K miles)
-Stock 99 Style head (28K Miles)
-HKS 264/272 Cams
-FIC 850 Injectors
-DSMLINK V2
-Re-Wired Walboro 255
-ARP torqued to 90ft lbs
All new Belts, headgasket, tensioners,
Nice setup. Is the FMIC blocking a lot of airflow to the radiator? I had to get creative with some plastic ducting with my 93 GSX with a smallish Buschur FMIC to keep my car from overheating.
I figure I was right around 400 hp at 25psi worth of td05 20g flow, 7cm housing, 550 injectors, VPC/AFC, upgraded buschur/denso pump.

It's quit possible.
I just sold my Greddy 24row FMIC and for the GTR. And so far am having the same temp issues with both.
I've also removed so much material/excess stuff from my engine bay that it should allow for better cooling. but hasn't helped.
I plan on buying a Fluidyne and some better fans here shortly. But am splitting the cost of a shep built tranny for my Girlfriends 1G Talon TSI AWD first.
I'm expecting to be closer to 330-340whp@20psi and 92 oct. Once we get the Knock taken care of.
We had to lower the timing to -3 across just to help keep the knock under 5.
All and all it seems rediculious that I was getting any knock no matter how you look at it.
We hopefully narrowed it down to 2 things:
-Bad Gas
-Bad Knock Sensor
Next week (hopefully)
-C-16
-I'll bring my spare Knock sensor (hope it's good came off my 96 GS-T parts car)
If intial tuning shows that knock is gone. I'll be shooting for 26-28psi. (depending on how it goes and how long they'll let me dyno. ie: I only paid for 1hr last time but we were on it for 7)
And hopefully around 385-400whp.
