long time no posting..
it's just my wife is in town and i'm kinda silent and off-line mostly. :)
so, we're going to New Orleans this week. do you guys have any good ideas what else to see there besides usual set (french quarter, aquarium, etc). i know i'm going early and i'll be missing mardi grass, but i'm looking for some fun nonetheless. but i was wondering maybe there's going to be some action on the import scene in Louisiana these days? do we have someone on the board from there? any input is welcome. thanks!
p.s. looking forward to renting a domestic with automatic transmission  :)

Good to see you back on the boards man! Never been to New Orleans though, have fun w/ the wife! You should go on some ghost tours there, supposed to be pretty good.

I was wondering where you've been. Have a good trip and take pics. 'burnout:
Go to an old grave yard. All the graves are huge musaliems (sp?), but there are some that are just body sized ones, that rest like two feet high from the ground. We found one that had been kicked, and you could see the skeleton, it was pretty crazy. Otherwise I don't really like Lousianna, but you'll have fun. It's better than Myrtle Beach, that's for sure.

Go down to the Mississippi river. Lots of casino boats and resturaunts and such.

The swamp tours are cool. Always fun to see a "good 'ol boy" jump out of the boat and grab a cottonmouth and drive the boat right over the alligators as they duck under the water! The Aquarium of the Americas is always fun, as well as the big IMAX theater in the same building. The Riverwalk mall is cool if you wanna do some shopping.
Lots of good places to eat. One of my fav's is Ralph & Kacoo's. Try the alligator appetizer. My cousins that still live down there tell me that the car action is by the lake, but I'm not sure exactly where.
Enjoy your trip!

hey, i'm back!
thought this thread would be most appropriate to sort of announce that ;)
back from New Orleans and from many other things that kept me off-line for a while.
New Orleans was really great! I expected something different from what I found there, but it surely is a very interesting and unusual place. Bourbon street is a place that never gave me a chance to feel sorry i didn't go there for a Mardi Gras - I suppose they have Mardi Gras there all the year round!! ;) Jazz! i don't know if many of you guys like jazz, but it sure is something of an experience even if you dont like it normally (i do and got kicks from visiting Preservation Hall). Cocktails! Cigars! Drinks on the street! (yeah, i mean it, no silly paper-bags!) and graveyards - something sur-real. Woodoo shops.. etc. etc. Truly a city with carnival spirit. Just go there sometime if you have a chance! :)
Also, New Orleans has some nice suburbs, not to mention a bridge across some lake - as you drive somewhere in the middle you don't see shores at all!
ah, it's good to be back! so wassup? when's the next meet? gotta read lots and lots of posts. ;)
cheers!

if your hotel is close to french quarter - you don't really need to drive. you need to walk! also there's some old-styled train going across the city.

that's right, Ralph&Kacoo's is good (519 Toulouse st.) and there's a cool place 201 Restaurant (201 Decatur st.). Also check out Pat O'Briens pub - this is a must-be place for Hurricanes!
