Im trying to decide on an engine for my integra. I want a high revving motor that is fun to drive. I have thought about the jdm type r bc it says it redlines at 8900. But i also hear they have weaker cylinder walls than the us b18c5's. Anybody know what the pros and cons are of the JDM type r motor. Thanks

The only obvious issues with getting a JDM motor is having to either extend the wires or replace the entire harness with a USDM one.

The Pros are it's usually higher compression than the USDM ones, thus having a higher power output than it's USDM counterpart.

I have a JDM B16 and since Colorado emmissions isnt really strict, I was able to pass just fine. I think it's tougher in cali.

My dream setup? B20 w an ITR tranny.. (can you mount the ITR tranny to the b20?) Anyway i don't totally see the purpose of getting a JDM engine with all that hassle for the same displacement when you could go through all the trouble and have more displacement from the USDM b20... just my input.. I WANNA SEE SOMEONE DO A B20 TEG SWAP DAMMIT! cuz i want one and i'm poor :( l8!

That would be a nice setup, hella torque, would it be an easy swap?
Also how much do they run, I got some money I can drop right now, the stock tranny won't bolt up will it?

Plus since my stock B18 is shot I might have to think about it, would my 1990 LS be faster with a GS-R or the B20?

yes the tranny will fit only if it is the b20b/z not the B20A

I have no clue at all.. you'd have to ask someone else but i guess the b20 swap is better than an h22 because of room and also weight... I don't think the CRV tranny would work because it's 4wd(right?).. I wouldn't be the person to ask.. thats my dream setup though..

I have a GSR W/GSR engine(B18C1).. It's plenty fast, just get it turboed w/ a bunch of piggy-back computers and you'l have a total screamer... I still want to do the b20 swap but i'm looking at over a year until i can start to plan for doing the swap the year after that(money)... Anyway if you can do the b20 do it (swaps are all the rage) however my b18c1 is screaming fast...

that is really what I want to do, but people ask like 3K for the B18C1 engine

For all the money you'd have to put into a B20, it will come to about the same price as a B18C. H22A will blow the pants off a crvtec. The problem with both engines is the weak cylinder walls. I have about 4 or 5 friends that have tried to boost their H22As and all have blown them. I have 1 friend that was a little smarter and fully built his B20Z block before going vtec and boosting.

I am seriously considering doing a crvtec myself and eventually boost it at 6-8psi stock.

B series tranny will bolt to the B20B/Z blocks.

MY FRIEND HAD AN B-20 VTEC SET UP WITH AN ITR TRANNY IN IT ALL BULIT UP WAS FAST PROBLEM IS THEY HAVE NO TRACTION WORSE THAN AN TURBOED CAR RAN AN 15.00 AT BANDI ON FIRST PASS HE THEN INSTALLED AN GREDDY TURBO KIT AND WAS REDICULIOUS UNTILL THE MOTOR BLEW BUT THEY ARE NO JOKE B-20 TURBO ALL THE WAY
