287 betwen Longmont and Broomfield has been well known for speed traps for a long time. Not only is CSP doing it, but the local cops are too. Sometimes they'll sit with their lights off in a field in a completely unlit area; there's no way you'd ever see them until it's too late. The locals would leave their radar on constant, so I'd know from miles away, but that was years ago, and they probably have instant-on by now. I know CSP has been using instant-on X band for years, which easily looks like a common false alarm.
Moral of the story: never speed on 287. But, I know people still will... it's just like having car meets in Westminster... it's a bad idea, and everyone should know better, but they do it anyway and then bitch about it when the inevitable happens.
