Hey all I thought some of you would enjoy looking at the torture I am putting myself through today. I had some time to myself so I decided to rebuild the trans in Barb's car. Here is a pic of the countershaft assembly torn down for rebuild. The mainshaft is on the left waiting to be next. Got it all back together for a quick test drive at about 2:30. Now for some Egg Nog and relaxation. Happy Holidays everybody.

Damn..that doesnt look like much fun at all. The del Sol restoration program found a new sponsor yesterday however..I got hit by some dumb bitch in a Suburban with a grill guard..I'm going to see her insurance peeps next week, any idea how much a front clip is worth on a del Sol? I just want to make sure they dont rip me off..damn insurance agents! ;)
Anyway, its not bad..glad it doesnt require as much work as tearing down a transmission..yeesh. The del Sol does run great since its got a new clutch however, and it really seems to like this colder weather (or the winter gas?) maybe I'll hire you as my body/paint repair guy as well?

The front clip? You should be asking for about $500 for parts and restoration just to make sure you're safe. While your at it, if the front has to be repainted, you might as well get the whole car redone.

Sorry to hear about the Del Sol, Mike. I've had a several people almost crash into me in the last few days.
Tobi, how difficult is it to rebuild a tranny like that. Does everything just slide off and back on? I'm asking because my 3rd gear synchro is completely trashed. :( How much would you charge me to replace it (and install a LSD at the same time)?

I wasnt even in the car man..the stupid bitch hit it while it was PARKED. Let me just setup the situation a little bit here..you guys can all figure out the results..
Yuppy woman driver in a suburban with a bigass grill guard, 2 screaming kids, a hot cup of starbucks, on her cell phone, in Targets parking lot (which was VERY busy and a fucking train wreck on its own) pulling into a space. Needless to say..she hit my car..knew she hit it because she set the alarm off..said "I looked but didnt see any damage" <-- dumb woman
Anyway, so I called the police..and she says.."well I didnt hit it VERY HARD..." I almost fell over right there..bitch. The damage is nothing serious however.

I've talked to some people that have done that..apparently its a whole lot of time consuming work, but not ALL that difficult from what I have seen. Certainly not something I'd attempt without a nice garage to work in and all the tools.

The tranny rebuild is not the easiest thing there is to do on a Honda. It takes patience and practice. Its pretty easy to mess it up and really hard to fix once messed up. Weston, I can work up an estimate for you. If you would like to PM me the details of everything you want done Ill get on it right away.

Mike, depending how bad the damage is we may beable to work something out. If its just a matter of hanging new panels I can handle that. If it needs welding and frame work I would suggest taking it to Jose's shop for a looksee.

Heh..its nothing anywhere near that serious. She just took a little chunk out of the front bumper because of her grill guard...I doubt she was even going 5 mph. :)
