i know most of you dont know me, for i dont post on here that much.
but i feel like i needed to write this down and get this out of my system.

this yesterday morning i found out that my little cousin, (Cyna) was in the ER, for that moment, everything froze.. i didnt know what to think. did she have a car accident, did she break something.. something minor i thought, she'll pull through, she is a strong kid. im thinking damn maybe its the flu..
i knew she had missed a few days of school, last week.. but Little did i know, that she was wilding out with seizures and throwing up on herself, fever high as F lab reports said that she had been throwing up for at least 3 days.. but she never told anyone.. few hours later, her bro calls me and says she got diag'd with meningitis

http://my.webmd.com/content/healthwise/90/22382.htm?lastselectedguid={5FE84E90-BC77-4056-A91C-9531713CA348}

im sitting here thinking, ok ive heard of this before, but what exactly is it. im searching all over the net to see what exactly it was, what it does and how it is cured. im going crazy by now, i cant even work, im crying my eyes out, damn phone rings and i had to log a freakin call, all the while she is getting poked and pryed.
all i can think of is my poor lil cousin is sick, now i hear that it got to her brain and that she might not be able to make it?!?! WTF.. the disease has ate away her brain cells and if she does make it, she will be paralyzed and speechless.. i sit here and ask why this happened, she is such a good kid, what is the reasoning behind this.. ive always believed things happened for a reason, but what kind of fucked up lesson is this

the one awful thing that we have been trying so hard to no worry about is money.. she has no medical insurance, her father had gotten laid off a few months back
a close friend will be getting a fund thing going for her, i will post on it more when i get more info, if there are any that can help

it kills me to think that i just spoke to her on sunday, she sounded like her normal self, asking me the same question 3 different ways , she has always reminded me of how i am, quiet silly girl. I saw her on friday night when we went to see honey.. no signs of anything.
she was all excited that i was gonna give her a job working with me at my sisters restaurant. goes to show how shit can happen in an instant.

the thing i would like for people to get out of this is, please please.. if you are sick say something to someone, dont keep it to yourself, you know how your body is.. if this is something you never experienced before, go to the doctors.. her possibly being seen earlier, might have kept her from getting this severe.

please keep her in your thoughts and prayers that she will get thru this

Ahh sorry to hear that. She looks like a nice girl and very cute. My grandpa was the same way but never told anyone what was wrong with him. After he passed away we found out he was suppose to be taking heart medication and we found his bottle of pills and it was still full after 6 months. Stuff happens in mysterious ways and it always happens for a reason.

I'm very sorry to hear that. However, don't lose hope now. There are several cases where patients have progressed this far into the disease and even further and have managed to come back and not only regain speech but also mobility. It just takes time, patients and alot of strength, both physically and emotionally. There are even cases were neither speech or mobility was lost. The only thing I have to say now is just be there for her and be there for your self.

i appreciate everyones best wishes and prayers, it definately is paying off. I just got word from her brother that she is now stable. She is to wake up in an hour and we will see if anything is lost.. ie mobility, speech. per the doctor the swelling of the brain has dissipated.

thankyou all very much, i honestly believe in the power of prayer :) and i thank you all for letting me get the word out on this board

i love all you for that

Wow, I'm really glad to hear she is doing better! That is no fun when something like that just appears out of the blue, but fortunatly it sounds like she is pulling through, I will hope that nothing long term will occur!

Once I was feeling sick for a week and I had a then suddenly I had a bad pain in my side, 24 hours later I finally went to the hospital to find out my appendix was going to rupture any second. Had that happened, bad stuff would have come about...
So like bklyngryl said, tell people when stuff is going wrong.

Man, I really hope she pulls through. Isn't it nice to be able to come on the board and get all the support you'd ever want? When my mom was in the hospital EVERYONE that saw me or talked to me asked about her and wished her and us well.

I can definately relate to everything about your situation..because I think I was there about this time last year. Sometimes, like it was in my situation, you get sick SO fast that you really dont think its anything all THAT serious..and then you wake up in the hospital nearly dead. Believe me..I know.

I'm a walking survival story myself however, and I'll definately keep her in my prayers. I know how hard things like that can be on a family.
